I have an original paper copy of this. It is 1/2 A paper size,about 1/2 inch thick with the English pages or about 30mm withGerman, French, and Spanish language instructions. I can .pdf(I think)

I wanted to do an update for anyone that might have similar problems in the future.
The scope powered up but had no sweep, just two dots on the screen. Troubleshooting disclosed Q701 was bad

I think we have the root cause. I received my 10x probe today and after hooking it up to channel 1 and the 575 collector to channel 2 I began to see the noise. I immediately switched off

With “A” Sweep knob unlocked (pulled out) with calibration sig into Ch 1
With the A trigger level I can vary it, locks on and trace becomes stable
Trigger view works.

C5020 and C4020 (nearby) IMHO simply provide low frequency PS decoupling in a
crowded portion of the PCB. The way they are drawn on schematic (2) associated
with 2 different opamps is IMHO

r221b0 Have you tried running the cal routine yet? I suspect the cal routine will step you through complete processes. It may offer several menu paths i.e. one for horiz another for vert etc.

If you look at the line (60 Hz) input to the 575, do you still see the break in the waveform?
If you do, turn off the 575 and check the line input again. If the break is still there, then the cause

Here's a photo of the 575's collector sine wave with a 1K resistor between C&E and no DUT. As you can see, the problem persists. Does this look like a typical bad cap discharge issue....or
