All I can say is: Wow!
Are things really so tight that you can't rent, or borrow
a car for the trip? Rentals are only a problem in the
eclipse's path.
A head gasket is easy, and is a weekend job.

I believe all 570 and 575 curve tracers use the old
beeswax impregnated transformers. They are the same
vintage as the 545 and 545A. The epoxy didn't come
onto the scene until the 545B, 547, and

Yes it was, and we probably caught the same magical break in the clouds that (just) lasted though totality that you did. We were out on St Agnes Head a only couple of miles down the coast from

That wasn't in Cornwall in 1999, was it? I was one of the /very/ few people in
England that actually saw prominences. There were solid stratus clouds
everywhere, except for Perranport for 5 mins

That's a coincidence, my wife flew out yesterday (in a 787 it turned out but this one had seats and stuff inside unlike the ones I flew around in when based in Everett!) to see the eclipse and is also

A little too much coolant-(you are using coolant aren't you- water will destroy your water pump) and you will hydraulic that cylinder and bend a rod, or worse. If you're noticing the level drop,

OK, well the visible deflections look just fine and calibrate OK both horizontally and vertically.
I've replaced C1371, C1372 and CR1379 (with a BAV21). Can't see that it made any difference. So
