The CRT may or may not be junk. Because a piece of the faceplate broke off does not mean the tube is bad. Turn the instrument on and try to get a trace on screen. If there is no life on the

My method is to use the strain relief from an old Tek probe cable, fitted to the thin tube normally supplied with these pot lubricant/cleaners.
To get a tight fit I build up the tube with a few layers

Road Runner has SPAM monitoring software in place. A lot of SPAMers
use Yahoo email addresses to send SPAM. Road Runner detects a lot

So happens, a few years back I also received a UPS'd-7603. I saved several ccs of flaked off CRT front-glass for the Inspector.
The tube worked! though I have yet to scrutinize, tweak

I just received a 7603 in the mail today. All was fine till I removed
the crt bezel and found the lower left corner of the thick glass plate
cracked off.
