Re: Type 284 Pulse Generator strange output.
I think I figured it out, usual PEBKAC error. :D
Seems I had to tweak the internal and external TD Bias settings a bit more to get it to fire properly.
I think it's working ok now hopefully.

Unlike some, I do use a logic analyzer, but it depends very much on the application.
I do FPGA design, so monitoring all those digital outputs is a task. I also look at SPI, which needs fast. I2C

I am using a HP 50 ohm terminator (11048C) already, but here is the waveform with DC coupling:

Can you use 50 ohm term and DC coupling?

Tek 465b
Just wondering if anyone has managed to clean attenuator switch banks in a 465.
I know IPA should be used but not sure how to get this into the switch.

Type 284 Pulse Generator strange output.
I recently acquired an almost mint condition Type 284 Pulse Generator, except it has an issue with the pulse output.
It only gives a strange waveform that doesn't look right to

No... I get it (an it may yet be silliness) but having older stuff is sometimes required for replicating measurements... and it can make you feel like your back in the 1980s too. Problem is... a lot

Bruce,
Good to know, for several reasons: first, my original plan was to epoxy the switch body back in place after cutting the heat staked pins, and trying to free the stuck switch with silicone

Probably... if I live long enough to get around to it... I'll post some stuff about 7A42.
But, I looked at it... and in it... and just looking at it makes me think there's not much chance of it

Yes, I agree... and of course it's a preference thing... but HP LAs appeal to many here, while HP scopes lose out to Tek.
Lots of old HP LA holding down the basement floor everywhere... they're not

Well... it's hard to find one with the pods, and expansion modules... but they're usually in good shape cosmetically (they're 40 years old!)... and just the analyser (sans pods, modules) isn't

If you are ever going to adhesively bond (aka glue) any part of the assembly I would not use any silicone product. They are almost impossible to remove and adhesives don't stick to them.
