The bayonneting pins on a BNC are not milled out.
They may appear that way because the surface in which
they are pressed into the connector is milled flat.
If this was not done, the pin

Hi Raymond , thanks for that tip I'll have a look at that as the tape in the cartridge has not actually been damaged -- yet

Groups.io's hpseries80 group has discussed these tape cartridges and presents solutions for replacing the elastic band.
Drives like the one in the DAS 9100 were used in HP85- HP9845 -like programmable

Before anything else, check the large capacitors after the rectifiers (ripple voltage there) - C821, C811, C813 etc..
I've repaired several 76x3 scopes where at least some were dry and the regulator

Re: DAS9100 does anyone still remember it
Hi Brian,
I have a DAS 9129 with the tape drive option.
The DC-100 tapes use an elastic tape tension band internal to the cartridge to transfer motion from the drive
capstan to the two tape reels.

Well before I do anything else I have to address the capacitor issue. Got the scope hooked up to the -50V rail and there is 260mV pk-pk of ripple . It is a nice clean saw tooth generator at the

Re: 2445A slow
A good start would be to check the all the power supplies voltage and ripple content, according to the service manual. That should give you an idea of how urgent recapping attention is needed.

Hi Toby,
Any ESR meter you are likely to own is simply a 50KHz
AC ohmmeter.
Every capacitor has both its intrinsic capacitance,
and an effective series resistance, so it looks like

Re: 2430A Fails Repet
Rich,
There is a spring in the switch that breaks contact with a metal post.
You need to clean the spring and metal post to stop it from continuing the drift in the last direction.

Re: A sick 7603 can it be restored?
The -50V supply depends on the +50 unregulated voltage. The 130 V supply also depends on a good +50 V. You might want to check the caps C808 and C809 that's where I found a bad cap when
