H-K short on Tek CRT ?
from Tim P (UK)
Still trying to sort my 5116, which is frying the HV oscillator.
(Blows the 5.1 ohm resistor and/or the oscillator transistor)
Someone here suggested the problem may be on the HV side

It usually means you have left a connection undone. Check
the connections to the CTT board that pass through the chassis
to the motherboard side of the scope. (Ribbon and two coax).

Re: OT capacitor question
The X2 caps are just about OK for the job but very marginal. They may well fail, usually by going low capacitance as transients piece the dielectric and they self-heal. They can also fail short

Re: Graticle lighting
Does anyone know if the Tek 2225 ever had any graticule lighting ??
There is no control for it on mine ... Was it perhaps an option ??
Is it a feasible retrofit ???
It would be nice to have it

The author of that e-mail would have needed to put them up at some image hosting service to be able to inline the references to them.

Well sounds like a real condition. I would recommend that you replace all of the 10uf,100uf,180uf and 250uf caps and this will probably get you back in operation. Hopefully you have a good desolder
