Rebonjour:

As part of my work involves InfoSec I have some experience:

1.Problem has No connection to what browser or email client you use.

2. A robot web crawler visiting the site and not a member can see the adresses in every quoted reply

3. The privacy and other setting of the groups user control page has no option to hide any email address in a message or quoted reply.

4. Once your address appears, only a matter of time before its sold with millions of other adresses to the spammers.

5. The solution is not with responsibility of group members but for the admin and Groups.io to fix the security gaps that permit complete email adresses to be publicly seen.

6. The Groups.io admin can find may other groups that have fixed this issue.

Re: 465M

Update:

I found the hard way that the Time base/horizontal module was the culprit. It has done some sort of damage on the interface board.

I was able to source another 465M which had a different problem on the display. It was fuzzy and was not a straight line but some funny shape which is hard to explain. Anyway, I got it knowing that it had a working main board and HV parts. Thinking that the funny display was due to the time base, I moved the time base module from my first scope to this second unit which was a bad decision as it started doing the same thing-blowing the fuse!

I was able to find yet another main board and a time base module. These two, along with the vertical module and the power supply (transformer and the heat sink etc.) from my first scope worked like a charm. I had a known good CRT to go with it and the trace looks very clean and well defined now.

Now there is another question for anyone who can help. Why would the trace blank for a split second every now and then?

Thanks for any ideas.

That is so fine to see those molds. I've done a lot of molding for art's sake...

Could you make a mold and cast some sort of rubber?

Unless someone has another idea, I will look at cushions made for RC helicopter camera mounts.
This one caught my eye:

HONBAY 24pcs RC Anti Vibration Rubber Balls for Fright Controller Gimbal

On closer look, it's far from ideal. The parts are 13mm overall height, 8mm overall diameter, 6mm hole diameter, approximately 7mm chassis spacing.
The mounting holes in Type D are themselves 8mm diameter (5/16") so the cushions will slip free unless the chassis and subchassis are modified, perhaps by gluing down washers with 6mm ID.
Also the Type D chassis are spaced on approximately 10mm centers, not 7mm, so glue the washer on the bottom side of the upper and the top side of the lower.

I'll report results in a month or so.

Re: Type CA module in a 545

Pardon me if this is a stupid question, but have you performed the calibration process on the plug-in?

There are steps in the cal process that specifically address the gain (step #8) and there are front panel controls (recessed pots adjustable with a screw driver) to trim the gain on both channels.

Type CA module in a 545

David Kuhn

Hello all,

Type CA. All tube sockets cleaned, switches cleaned and the two pots that
can be clean are cleaned.

10volts will only read as 8 volts on either channel.

I swapped the output tube (common to both channels) V383A, 12AT7, with the
multivibrator output tube V3393. Same issue, not enough overall gain, in
both channels.

I haven't quite figured out how that module works. Apparently the
multibrator supplies power to the plates of both channel amplifier tubes
via V3393A. That was one I swapped. I am thinking that V3393A may not be
turning on hard enough, but I am really clueless with this module.

Is there a common issue with the Type CA that causes overall low gain on
both channels? When I install my Type D or Type 53/54K, both are bang-on,
but there doesn't appear to be any head-room to spare. So maybe the scope
needs a gain adjustment?

Thanks for the thoughts and idears....

Re: SG 502 Assistance?

One other fun fact about the SG502 and 505's they are both outside the measurement range of my HP 4411B in terms of THD. It will only validate them down to 0.06% THD. But that is the limit of the 4411B. They really are incredible instruments.

Thank you so much, all, for the helpful replies!

Tom and EJP, yes, got it…I need to get my scope working (SC 502) if I want to know more about what the SG 502 across more of its range. Thanks. I need to get my scope working regardless.

Eric, thank you especially for your response. That makes perfect sense! I couldn’t see that forest for the trees (that I was asking the analyzer to do something outside ITS effective range)!

Regarding the “stiff knob”, it’s not a knob but rather the frequency and attenuation range push switches. Any suggestions?

Free to a reader of this group who would like a 466. Nice bright trace; trigger is a little jittery sometimes. And a 466 parts mule--no case or CRT, and a few discretes harvested, but all ASICS and almost all the knobs, etc. are intact.

Pickup in Bloomington, Indiana--I am not in a position to pack and ship these. Inquiries by e-mail, please: dan (AT) melamed (DOT) org .

Re: explosion mystery on my 7104

Laura

I had a tek 2465 emit a cloud of noxious smoke a minute after I unpacked it and plugged it in. The cause was a RIFA cap in the line filter at 120Volts.
The scope was shown working on EBAY. I didn't blame the seller for such a random event. I just changed all the RIFA caps. I never want to smell that smoke again so I replace every RIFA cap I find.

May the vaccine be with you,

We use Opera, as well as Firefox, we found that MS Edge is very bad and the "secure" browsers are not as compatible, eg brave or Tor browser.

Any fix should be easy for Opera and Firefox, but the spammers will uncover any weak point.
