Questions regarding new group
n4buq
Glad to see this is moving to a better platform.
I do, however, have a couple of questions about this. I went to the group.io homepage and can see the tekscopes messages, but am not seeing anything for photos or other files. Are those linked from the homepage? At the homepage, it has a login link. Do I need to create a groups.io membership? I tried logging in as a Google account, but that didn't seem to take me back to the tekscopes homepage and clicking back there didn't expose any new functionality that I saw so am curious what/if I need to do anything else. Thanks to all who made this possible! I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Barry - N4BUQ

Re: Protect your 575 curve tracer
bobkrassa
You can start to check if you have the fuses by removing the filter on the back of the scope, removing the little screws that hold the fan and moving the fan aside - no need to disconnect it. The fuses are short Buss fuses - the top two items on the diode board. You can't easily see this from the sides.
The fuses were provided with the diode board with mod kit 040-0223-00. There was another mod kit to just install the fuses, using a short ceramic strip on the underside of the chassis. I wonder if the transformer killing shorts were more common with the selenium rectifiers as that is a known failure mode. Still good to have as this is a high current 15 volt circuit. Re: 7904A readout bounce
NigelP
So, further investigation demonstrates more of what I've already noted. Scenario: 7904A loaded with 2x 7A26, 7B92A, 7D15 and ALT set on both vertical PIs and mainframe set to ALT...... if I overlay all four traces on top of each other there is NO bouncing of the readout . As you increment any trace position towards top/bottom of the screen the bounce gets increasingly larger reaching around 0.1 major division (therefore readout bounce magnitude is a direct function of trace vertical position). Sweep speed in the region of 50mS/Div +/- some shows up nicely, but any variation of sweep speed simply varies the level of visual annoyance. Any combination of ALT setting produces the same result.
Similarly, substituting a 0587 Signal Standardiser into either PI slot and set up to perform the handbook "Thermal Comp" procedure, as mooted earlier in the thread, the readout bounces away merrily to the step waveform rising/falling. Also using for example a single 7A26 set to CH1 and mainframe set to LEFT (so no ALT settings) the readout shifts up and down according to PI vertical position setting.... a direct and linear relationship between SHIFT potentiometer setting and readout vertical screen position. Readout movement is in anti-phase to trace shift movement.

Re: c-12 camera
Hi , I saw those types but the ones I used and I am not sure if the first is a bona-fide 600 type --- 665 B/W with negative -- cant supply . Also the one really needed for fast work type 47 3000asa roll film ( can push to 10,000asa ) cant supply

They seem to have: i-type in both color and B&W 600 in both color and B&W SX70 in color and B&W Spectra, though currently sold out 8x10, B&W, color sold out. I didn't see any sign of the old roll type of film, which would leave out any of the camera backs that used that film. 600 and SX70 were used in lots of scope and microscope camera backs. -Chuck Harris Brian via Groups.Io wrote: For the groups benefit , I have been in contact with Polaroid . Re: Tek Knob Project - scan and make
A small problem with this plan is the interior of the knob, which is a METAL (aluminum) core, threaded for one or more steel setscrews. I am certain an all-plastic version would not work.

Not Tek, but scopish, and interesting...
I have broken up a few Data Check multiple rack mounted scopes. These amazing arrays provide up to 7 plug-in scopes in a single rack unit, very interesting little gadgets. they were used to monitor missile telemetry and other many-source lab functions. I am hoping to find a manual for the 1200B version, any luck out there? no web stuff was located anywhere. 7 scopes with full controls in 5 1/4 inches of rack space is pretty impressive.
I use these just for the CRTs ( a rare by very handy miniature rectangular AEG D7-233GY), and scrap all the rest. If anybody wants the little scope assemblies to use with other CRTs, let me know. I can make that happen. Some amazing through hole assembly and packaging in these babies. Thanks to the hard working Dennis for moving our group to a new home! all the best. walter (walter2 -at- sphere.bc.ca) sphere research corp.

What I can help with and what I can't help with
My apologies but I have been so focused on handling all the details of
setting up our new home that I have had no time to "Look around" at how you get to everything. Thank you to Craig and Dave Henderson for blazing a trail through the new pathways to our files and photos. When I have the time I will be using their suggestions on how to find the files, photos, and archives I am interested in. I can clear up a few things about what will be missing. Groups.io cannot transfer Attachments. Fortunately we didn't have a lot of those. This is what Groups.io did transfer * Members * Messages * Photos * Files * Links * Databases Here are some statistics: 1. Total Members Processed: 8582 2. Successfully Added: 7054 3. Undisclosed Emails (Skipped): 28 As I learn more about the transfer and how it went I will report those details to the group. That's it for the moment. Dennis Tillman W7PF

Tek Knob Project - scan and make
Kuba Ober
Two things came to my mind in relation to the tek knobs index project:
1. Instead of taking just a few photos, a larger number properly exposed photos that cover the entire part from all sides could be used to produce a point cloud and then a 3D-printable mesh. I can cover the subscription cost of the software needed - it’s not exactly cheap. Alternatively, manual measurements could be made for OpenSCad models - I’m sure that a lot of those knobs are slight variants and easy to model. I can offer to process 25 knobs a month using either process, resulting in a printable STL file. Over a year or two presumably we could have reproducible models of all knobs that way. Perhaps sorting the work in order of popularity/demand would be useful. I have 0 clue about such order and would follow whatever input the group has - as long as I wouldn’t have to decide on it. In other words: send me the knobs to process and I will process them and ship them back, but don’t make me choose them :) 2. Homemade 3D prints in ABS can be vapor smoothed and look beautiful with no other manual post-processing of the print. They can also be painted. Alternatively, various professional printing services can print those knobs nicely from various materials, for a low cost: the knobs have small volume and that’s what mostly affects the price. Should this be of interest, feel free to message me directly for a shipping address. I will turn around 25 knobs in 30 calendar days and will cover the cost of shipping them back. All the best, Kuba
