Many TM500 plugins have an Int/Ext switch on the front panel.It allows you to jumper the backplane connectors on the mainframe.So, a counter or a DMM could get its input from the front panel, or from a plug-in elsewhere in the mainframe, such as the rear Trig output from a PG or FG.
This eliminates a lot of front panel clutter if you want to monitor a PS-50x with the DMM & also use the DMM's front panel inputs for normal measurements.Tek used to offer jumper wire kits of various lengths for this purpose.
