Hello,

I am considering to build 2 pcs. FS3 to upgrade older Meade and Vixen mounts.  I am familiar with the assembly of electronics but I wonder if the parts can soldered by hand or do I need a "tinbath" for soldering ? Pleas advice.

Kind regards
Ad Matthijs

Hello,

TeenAstro is easy to sold, you just need a thin soldering Tipp. The TOS and the Teensy are already assembled.

TeenAstro can be soldered by hand, it is no solder bath necessary.

But I recommend a soldering iron with temperature control, enough power (min. 50W) and a thin tip.

There are also no SMD solder skills required. But you should have a little soldering experience.

Best regards

Matthias

Hallo,
If possible I would like to join your order. Is 2.3.1 the last version? I thought it is 2.4?
I would like to order 10 sets of all PCB for us (my club).

10 ist eine Menge, ich schau mal wie wir es am besten organisieren. Eigentlich es wäre besser wenn alles lauft über eine Verein, die VDS computer Astronomie wäre die beste platform. Hast du gut kontakt zu der VDS?

Hallo Charles,
Yes, I know a few persons from VDS, and I am member as well.
Basically I wanted to order for us by myself, but I am not so familiar with GIT hub, so what to download where and what to order how....
But I thought there is a certain minimum quantity to order, so 10 should make the order more easy than only a few?
Maybe we can talk this evening?

Hello  Charles, Michael,

Just as with me the FS3 will become more popular in time. I am sure about that. I have designed and build mountings myself  and have experience in handling these projects.
In case of the FS3 I have been struggling with the fact that the information how to get parts, how to assemble, how to upload the software etc. is  given in different ways on various sites (that is my feeling at least)
I wonder if it would be an idea to start making a kind of "manual"  what and how to do to come to a working FS3.  I could be of help if needed.

With a manual like that the only question left would be:  who supplies the bare PCB's.  I can be reached personally at awdmatt@xs4all.nl

Regards
Ad Matthijs

Hi Matthijs and Michael,

Matthias told me many time that what we need today are documentations not features.

In the wiki area there are some guideline to build TeenAstro.
If you want, I can prepare a google docs, link the document to the TeenAstro site and then you can write the Manual.
IO.groups is free as long as the total amount of data is bellow 1Gb, so I prefer that we try to put all the data on my google drive.

For the software and firmware  update we need a kind of press dummy solution, and I have to organize release cycle with version number. Matthias has prepared a zip with all needed data to flash TeenAstro maybe, I have to discuss with him how and where we put the updates.
