New teenastro for the future
Hi all,
I’ve seen like everyone that there are development actually for teenastro with other components that teensy 3.2. I’ve seen teensy 4.0 or esp32… is it right ? I don’t understand all your research about it and I have a basic question : On the wiki, actually, it’s always teensy 3.2 that is a complete project, so is it again interesting to buy teensy 3.2 if we find it ? And second, is our teenastro with teensy 3.2 will work with teensy 4.0 after update ? Thank you to clarify my spirit. Best regards Jmarc |

I can order 3 teensy 3.2 but the disposability stop for January, 16. The price is 23,20 dollars. There are two options for shipping : - Air mail ( 1 or 3 weeks delay) For 17,91 dollars. No warranty and control if the package is lost. - UPS ( 3 to 5 days delay) for 92,36 dollars (expensive). The package can be tracked. And I think there will be extra customs due, I don't know the cost. I want to keep at least one if I have to change one on my teenastro for me and I can sell 1 or 2 depending on the compatibility of teensy 4.0. That’s why I would want to know if it is interesting to buy it or if teensy 4.0 can replace teensy 3.2 and then This order wouldn’t be interesting. If I order, I tell you to know if someone is interested Thanks for your answer. JMarc Le 11 janv. 2023 à 09:56, Jean-Marc Dillon via groups.io <jmarcperso@...> a écrit : |

Teensy 4.0 can't directly replace Teensy 3.2 on the "old" boards, due to some pin changes and voltage level (3V3 only for the 4.0, 5V for the 3.2) But with some tweaks and flying wires it can work That's says, I don't think 60+ $ for a single teensy is worth ! -----Message d'origine-----

Hi Nico and Charles,
You think it worth to make an instruction to show how fit a 4.0 instead of 3.2 to not waste the 2.4 pcb?
I have 3 mini PCB 2.4 left for example, and I think many other of us.

I don't want to go that path because then I have to maintain more firmware. it makes documentation more complicated. And the functions are ot the same... It quite easy to unsold the 5v regulator with a heat gun... Le ven. 13 janv. 2023, 14:50, Davide Fava <davide.fava@...> a écrit :

Ok, I just meant to do something as transition to the new components, but I didn't know there would be also different firmware needed. From: TeenAstro@groups.io <TeenAstro@groups.io> on behalf of Charles <charleslemaire37@...>

Hi, And will it be always possible to repair an old version with teensy 3.2 and reload the firmware for 3.2 even if the new version with teensy 4.0 come ? I ask this because effectively we have old PCB versions and old components…and old versions teenastro. And why change teensy in a teenastro that work correctly ? 😉😉 Thanks for all. Hi everyone.
The philosophy of TeenAstro is to maintain versions as long as possible, AND to avoid a too large number of Hardware design. The future firmware will support the Teensy 3.2. don't worry I have a nice Zoo at home with different TeenAstro. If you have currently a TeenAstro with a Teensy 3.2 and you don't need encoder, and you are happy with the goto speed, I see no reason to change. I have used my FS2 for years even with a 15 years old electronic... Charles |
