USMC J-Series TO&E

I know the infantry "battalions" were commanded by colonels and I'm pretty sure that they too were the same ranks as real regiments.
They often pumped up ranks. In the 1970s and later we OPFORed against a Marine Reserve battalion. We slipped into their assembly area and we wandered around unrecognized in the dark. We asked where their battalion CO was and they'd direct us somewhere only to find captains. Turned out they were allowed to have captains as platoon leaders as overstrength.

What were the grades of the CO, XO, principal staff officers and company commanders in the J-Series battalion sized unit? And was it referred to as a regiment or a battalion? Did it have a deputy commander in addition to the XO?
