Re: TM-D700A keyboard

Hi Rahn.. Thought I had unsubscribed to this list when I gave my 700 to my daughter, but this must be serendipity! I do have one of the original W2FS interfaces that I no longer need. If you’re interested, please contact me. I even have a mini keyboard I’ll throw in. Also have the original instructions dated May 17, 2005. Have no way to test it now, but if it doesn’t work, full refund of course.

TM-D700A keyboard. I searched this group and came up with messages from years ago for W2FS interface between a keyboard and the TM-D700. I know these are old radios but I just picked up two more. I looked at Coastal Chips website and it doesn't look like they offer this anymore with no surprises since they are fairly old radios. Is there any other interface between keyboard and radio available? Do I just have to try to find one laying around? I am not that good with making things but I would even make a stab at trying to build something if someone has plans.

Search the internet or ham fests, I found two, and before you ask, sorry not parting with either! Just kidding of course but look they are out there and work great if you are a,slow typer, if you type at 100 wpm forget it, it gets lost!

Never mind. I got it!

Re: Putting call sign in APRS

When I do it manually it goes back to just my call sign. When I do it with the software it gives me an error when adding a dash and number

Re: Putting call sign in APRS

Ron

The -0 is your base call so you can just enter your call.  The -1 should be okay.  You could also use -1 and -2.

Hi Pat, Thanks for the response. I checked for being stuck in repeater mode, it is not, I put it in repeater mode and your right only access to those 2 menus, when I take it out then all menu functions are there. It will not xmit and will not receive.
Busy indicators on both band are on and will not go out even with sq all the way clockwise, there is no audio out of the speaker at all. I have done a full reset and that did not help. I did not see any corrosion on any of the boards.

This problem sound familiar, I think it might be stuck in repeater mode.  Normally, other menu functions do not work while in repeater mode.

DISCONNECT ANY ANTENNA CONNECTION IN CASE ANY SIGNAL RECEIVED IS CONTRIBUTING TO THE INTERNAL MIXER PRODUCING RF Noise, This is a known Mixer issue is some later TM-D700 models due to corrosion internal in the 4 different mixers (VHF NB, VHF WB, UHF NB, UHF WB)

Access Menu 1-7-6 (REPEATER) and select Locked band Repeater or Cross-band Repeater. The default is "OFF"

More info.
If receiving a signal on the TX band, the transceiver switches the current RX only band to the TX band. Before accessing Menu 1-7-6, select the sarne band as the TX and control bands.

Note:
You cannot activate the Repeater function after recalling the same frequency band (VHF or UHF) on band A and B, or while blanking a band display.

Activating the Repeater function switches OFF Automatic Band Change (A.B.C.) or automatic Simplex Check (ASC). The Time-Out Timer is locked at 3 minutes.

After activating the Repeater function, you cannot access Menu Nos. other than 1-7-5 and 1-7-6.

<EXIT CROSS BAND MODE WITH REPEATER HOLD OFF, THEN CROSSBAND OFF>

I did check that, makes no difference if it is plugged in or not. It is not transmitting.

I just purchased a TM-D700, it powers on and both busy lights are lit and will not go out even with sq at full clock wise. No xmit or receive, no audio out of speaker. All controls seem to work, you can change freq, bands, menu settings. I did a full reset and that did not help. I hope I didn't buy a door stop, Thanks for looking, 73 Michelle WB8QGR.

Re: Going simplex on a repeater output temporarily

It's just a matter of pushing the "DUP" button, but in all honesty, I prefer to to have a repeater output freq set to simplex right next to my repeater setup! Then it's just a matter of turning the big knob one channel!

Re: Going simplex on a repeater output temporarily

Joe Dietrick

Agree with Harold.

Note: Reverse Function is not simplex. It literally reverses the transmit/receive frequencies in split (repeater) mode.  It's use would be contacting those who are unaware the repeater is down, or for direct contact of someone still using the repeater pair.

We have asked all our users to include a simplex memory channel of our repeater output exactly for this reason.

Re: Going simplex on a repeater output temporarily

One way is to copy the memory to vfo and then change the offset to simplex. Another way is to program an unused memory channel just for that purpose.
