Re: NO files in file section

I see there are lots of problems with the group. I cannot change the setting in control panel, to either make them public or allow new members. I sent message to Yahoo, maybe they'll get back to me soon.
On the files note, I read lots of group owners having the same problem, one day the files are there, next day they are gone. Two days later some of them are back.
Glen, would you like me to try to email what I have downloaded to you?

I tried to get on that group and download, but it said I had to be a member. However, I saw no place to click to become a member.

Try this group, all my files are still there for now. Take a minute, download all the files you find pertinent to your use.

I can't find a download feature on any of the files sections of any of the groups I'm a member of.  Unfortunately, I don't have time to pull each file down individually.

while I was chocking to see if they were still there i clicked on one and it would not open, it wanted to download first. So, in my experience with that i clicked on each one individually, it opened a download box, saved first one to a new folder, all the rest went there too

Do files have to be downloaded individually or can one do a "mass download" to a local drive or another site, such as Google Drive.

All files are gone from the YAHOO member groups I belong to, except one and I want to grab those files while they are still up.

Thanks.

Done. This may also be good advice for other ham groups folks are members of. I guess I know what I’m doing for a while today.

Another ham-oriented Yahoo group I'm a member of has had some issues lately as well. There the discussion was moving to groups.io. This is a group that is active, normally over 200 posts per month.

I'm not a partisan for either Google or groups.io. I would follow this group to either location (or another, if one pops up) if the decision were made to move. But Yahoo does seem to be starting some sort of pull-back in quality of service for all the free stuff they've provided for years. Understandable given their situation.

Hi all, files missing?

It’s not “us”.

Be warned, Yahoo seems to be falling off the tracks so to speak. I was on a couple of Yahoo Group tractor restoration sites and they have been experiencing the same thing. Files and content missing, inability to log on even. They moved everything over to Google in the last few weeks.

Me thinks this is the beginning of the end.

As the owner of this group I can assure you I never removed any files. I have no idea why suddenly they are not there. I have read rumors tha Yahoo is closing groups with little or no activityI also have another 700 group and their files are intact. If you wish I'll send you a link to join it.

D710 G TNC ERROR Message

Dennis Yard

Gents,

My D710 has failed to open the TNC upon power up and gives me a TNC ERROR message.    I can't use APRS or PACKET again.  It was working last week.

This is the third time in about 18 months of ownership.   It was sent back the prior two times but the only apparent Kenwood action was to replace a keeper battery in the unit.

Any suggestions?

Do you have VOX or some way for the program to PTT the radio. If I use mm-sstv I must have vox turned on or some device like the signalink to ptt the Radio.

pat thank you. my usb adapter is a keyspan usa-19hs.i have not tried using the adapter on my 10 box until now,i do have a feeling that i might need to install a driver for it.also have a 7 laptop with a db 9 serial port will give that a try.do not have a serial port tester did not know such a item existed.

Power for accessory?

Ed Pavlovic

I'm wondering if anyone on the group might have a suggestion. I'm using a Motorola amplified speaker that runs on 12 volts (for a MTS2000 convertacom) to get more volume out of my TMD700A. It works great for what I need. Until this point, I've always used the 12 volt outlet in the mobile for the radio and the amplified speaker, but I'm adding a more permanent power lead from the battery for the radio and the speaker. The radio can be turned on and off easy, but I'm concerned about leaving the speaker powered all the time. I have not checked the standby current draw of the speaker yet.

Is there any way to possibly power a relay off of the TMD700A to switch the 12 volts to the speaker when you turn the TMD700A on and off?

If not I guess you could use a circuit to sense the current draw from the TMD700A to switch the speaker power relay.

Thanks,

Ed

Normally drivers are needed for most USB-serial port adapters. Not familiar with KEYSTONE.

If this is not recognized by Windows, try the manufacturer's pages on the web for drivers!

Now, do you have a serial port tester?  Great troubleshooting aid.
B&B Electronics Manufacturing still sells them, here is the DB-9 version

RS-232 MINI TESTER

==
I have been using Kenwood MCP programs through Win 95, 98,  XP, 7 and now 10.

I usually use a Win7 desktop or old laptop computer that works fine, and it has a serial port, and it quickly recognized the radio on a direct RS-232 Cable.

The small Win10 notebook computer was a bit balky, until I reinstalled the software in a Kenwood folder, NOT the Win10 Program folder. !!!!!!
I use a dual serial port to USB adapter, and it recognized the USB-serial adapter first off, and automatically downloaded drivers.

Then I tried with the radio connected , no go!  Rereading all things about Kenwood radio programs:
turn the radio ON  within 1-2 seconds after you start the MCP program in Windows.

Again, turn the radio ON 1-2 seconds after you start the MCP program under any Windows (XP/7/10).

Good luck!

Try CHIRP it's free and works very well, I believe the original Kenwood software is still available!
