TM-D710GA - iGPS appears, then goes off

shedberg

I am hoping someone can provide some insight I am having with my TM-D710GA.

When the radio is powered on, the iGPS indicator will come on for two or three seconds, the turn off. I can press the function key "GPS" and the iGPS indicator will come on, but then turn off again.

Both A and B radios are working and I can receive APRS packets.

Any idea what is happening here?

Hi Michael,

Thx for reply. I use the original software and i can work the programmed repeaters.
When i use VFO A (left) then everything works,VFO B , same mem channel, reverse does not work.
I mailed Kenwood Belgium already because i suspecting a bug.

I remember hearing about some programming software (not Kenwood’s) messing up the offset. Please check what the offset is and which direction to see if it could be out of band. This may not be your problem, but I seem to remember hearing something like this – but I have slept since then. Since you are talking about a 710, you might get more answers in the 710 group. Sorry then Hans, out of my range as every misdeed on mine has been solved by a reset, at least thus far.

I fear it may be time to contact Kenwood Tech Support and inquire there.  Perhaps there is a known issue with the firmware update or somesuch.

Best of luck with it.

Hans, apologizing in advance if you have tried this already, but have you reset the radio lately?

My 710 (installed mobile) acts up maybe once or twice a year.  Last time it refused to go into Cross Band mode and required a reset and stuffing the programmed repeaters back in it to completely restore functionality.  These rigs are pretty much computers these days and once in a while need to be rebooted apparently.

Reverse not working on VFO B

Hans , PA3HGT

Hello all,

I have a odd problem with my TMD710GE with the latest firmware.
When i am on memorychannels on both vfo's,only VFO B is not going in reverse when the channel is programmed in repeater.
VFO A is not a problem but VFO B the reverse function is not working. I did the full reset and reprogrammed it.
The reverse is not working with the knob "rev" on the display and on the original mike where i programmed the PF key for reverse.
When i press one of the buttons for the function when i am on VFO B , the conformationbeep sounds as not programmed/not possible.
On VFO A the conformationbeep sounds good and the reverse works.

Anyone has a cleu about this ?
Thanks in advance !

Thanks for the info.  Now I guess I'll have to do some rearrangements.  Wish there was a good way to edit the channel numbers.  I tried doing that in MCP2 and they just reverted back to the original number.

Kenwood has a different approach to memory groups - they are determined while saving memories, not after the fact. So, any frequencies you save to memory channel numbers 0 through 99 will automatically be in Group 0, those saved to memory channels 100-199 will be in Group 1 and so on. See page Scan 2 of the CD owner’s manual.

What "modem" program to use on D710GA to decode BricSat2 on 437.605 @ 9600b ?

KD7YZ Bob

set Ch B to that QRG and 9600b but was running through AGWPE and figured that was wrong protocol.

Or I set the Rig up incorrectly.

I can ask over on AMSAT but thought there may be another D710 using for Sats, here.

Yikes, Lynn ... it seems that this entire Email-List-Interface "mostly" doesn't send all emails to me. And I see nothing in "Junk/Spam"

Yes, I have a D710GA ... didn't find, on my initial look, a group just for the D710 ... thanks again .... and, "Yes", B4 u ask, I am on the web-interface, reading this ... for the dang first time.

If you check the APRSISCE group, you should have received my response to your question about D710 in APRS mode not supporting digipeating from APRSIS32.  It's technically not possible in that radio mode because a program cannot transmit the "used" bit in the AX.25 header which is required for a digipeated packet.

Also, menu 616 in the radio governs what the RADIO will do, not what connected programs might try to do. APRSIS32 will have no logs of whether or not the radio digipeats a packet.

Besides, I thought you had a D710, not a D700?  If so, you're asking in the worng (sic) support group.

Re: APRS Auto Tune to listening frequency

Randy Allen

That feature came in with the TM-D710, the successor to the D-700.  The frequency part of the APRS spec was not developed until well after the D700 was released.

Sorry, but the TM-D700 is not designed to perform this particular function,

I checked, radio is still on, and the call there is K7JCN-9. I had my mobile on 9 also so changed that. I look on APRS.FI and I do see my raw packets there from today up to yesterday and the day before.

Re: D700 Not BCONing Correctly

I'll check the radio when I get home. I left it on I'm pretty sure. I'll let y'all know

Re: D700 Not BCONing Correctly

I see a -2, -3 and -9, but no -7

The HF gateway almost makes me jealous.. :-)  The local noise floor, even with the home power turned off, is so bad that HF is unusable.  On 160-10 meters, I can hear a ham about a mile away as long as he runs at least 150 watts.

Sorry k7jcn-7 is the one in question.
