Re: APRS and the VS-3
The D700 will only announce messages destined for you. And then
it will announce the call of the sending station.

Re: APRS and the VS-3
Even though I am telling the radio to use the voice chip for APRS ONLY, it
is not announcing incoming messages. I received a lot of nice assistance
from folks on htaprs, but most did not own a D700

Re: APRS
Takea look at the ARRL website, you should be able to find some good informationthere. www.arrl.net.
Also, the AMSAT-NA site has loads of good info on most of the birds, take a lookthere.

Re: TX for 476MHz
Look at the mods pages (or search), but I think it involves removing
a resistor along with the wire.
(I have not tested or seen it done, BTW).

Bad crossband audio with D700
Has anyone else noticed that their crossbanded audio from the d700 is all muffled? The audio at the 2m repeater you trying to work is as if you are talking with a sock in your mouth.

Has anyone set up winaprs to work with the 700? If so, what are the settings? I can't seem to get it to communicate with my radio. Other packet programs & Kenwood's memory control program work

I used the free RAM mount that Kenwood was giving out at Dayton. I've
been very, very happy with it.
I only made one change .... instead of mounting the control head
to
the Kenwood-supplied bracket
