I have tried it and it works fine. I used a straight through db9 to my ibm thinkpad I think you need to turn on local echo to see what you are typing if I remember. 9600 8N1 is right.

Has anyone actually tried this? I tried it lunch time with my palmtop set
to 9600 N-8-1 and couldn't get anything to happen.
Anyone have any pointers?

You can use the microphone keypad to enter your messages. Time-consuming
but works ... and faster than twiddling the dial.

It goes in the mic line, so you plug the mic into one side of the board and a cable from the board to the radio in the other. You could use the DB-9 connector for message entry, but if you do that,
