Wow.. ok that makes alot of sence (as to why someone would do it with
a repeater network). Everyone can always hear if they are within
earshot of the repeater (so to speak).
Do you care to enlighten

yeah I thought about that. I'd rather forego the inbound PL though
then do that.. why tie up 2 channels to make a single QSO :) Yes that
works.. but it's a nasty hack hehe.

Re: Dual Tone?
I can do split tones with my VX-7R and TM-D700A. ( dunno why a repeater
would do split tones..) You'll find this used very extensively in the US
Forest Service. They will have a network of repeaters

My tests show NO SPLIT TONES on the D700 or the TH-F6.
In CT mode the set tone is used for both Tx and Rx...but I'll go
check it again. I think I did my original D700 test on a simplex
channel. I'll

Re: Dual Tone?
Well, it wouldn't suprise me if you can't. I dunno why... My HTX-202
lets me do split tones. But my VX-7R and apparently this rig, don't.
Granted, dunno why a repeater would do split tones.. but

What the! Now I can't reproduce this on my home D700. I'm sure I tested this
once and was successful with split tones. I'm going to have to try on the
car D700 and see if the results are different.

Re: Dual Tone?
I'll triple check, but when I was playing last night I had:
T - 151.4
CTCSS - 167.9
Set to T the repeater keys up and all is fine.
Set to CTCSS, I can hear the repeater but can't talk to it!

I like Kenwood's software better, but the Link700 allows you to program
both a D700 and D7A.
