Call memory
Incendie <incendie@...>
I have been trying to program the following memory as a Call memory: 169.275
DCS 152. I have the same frequency/DCS in my "normal" memory and it works great. For some reason, when I try to program it in the Call memory (either directly on the radio or with the software) the frequency goes in OK but I always get DCS 025 !!! Since it is my fireground frequency, I'd really appreciate if could put it as my call frequency. It would save me the assle to search for it every time I need it. I don't know if someone else encountered the same problem and I would really appreciate your help to solve this issue. I don't see anything in the manual on the topic other than limiting
your range, which isn't the way. The sure fire would be to tell him it
was funny the first time, but after 86 times it no longer brings a chuckle!

Blocking callsigns
Keith Maton <feek@...>
This may seem like a strange request but is it possible to block particular
callsigns from a D700? There is one idiot locally who thinks it's clever to keep sending me messages telling me that there's a speed trap on the road ahead, or that I'm a boy racer who should slow down when I'm within the speed limits. I'm getting really fed up with it and want to be able to ignore/reject his messages. Can this be done? 73 Keith -- Keith Maton, G6NHU feek@bigfoot.com Visit http://www.mb7uiv.co.uk, home of the first licenced APRS gateway in the UK. - Careful with that Axe

Hi Jean To adjust the Transmission deviation level you need to get into the service mode. To get into the mode, short pins 3 and 6 of the 6 pin data radio terminal. Then scroll through the options to the deviation section. Then press and hold the Mic (PTT) in then turn the tuning control to select the deviation you want. Then Press the SET key to set it. Both VHF/UHF need to be adjust separately. It would be interesting to know if its the MC-53DM microphone that has low audio or the radio. As I had this problem as well so If you do have the time BEFORE you adjust the radio deviation and try another microphone Heres the url for a good radio modification web page http://www.mods.dk/ Kiely Petersen ZL1WPK

Mic gain
Incendie <incendie@...>
Is there a way to change the mic gain on this rig. I am using the MC-53DM
and I have to "eat" the microphone to get normal audio according to reports I have had since I got the rig. I could always make myself a cable to use my Heil microphone with this rig when I am using it in the shack but it would not help me much for when I operate mobile. I remember reading something on the internet about hidden menus that might help me solve this annoyance but I just can't find it. Can someone help me ? D700 and Cassiopeia A-11
kd5ezk@...
Has anyone ever successfully connected a Cassiopeia A-11 to a D700
with the serial interface cable? I tried it but couldn't seem to get the two devices to connect. I've read some of the other messages about attempts to connect other palmtop/handheld devices to the D700, but the issue of the null modem is confusing me - do I need it or not, do I have it or not? How do I tell, and is this even the problem? I wanted to try to do two things with this set-up: use the A-11 as a compact packet terminal, and use the A-11 as a text- entry device for APRS messaging. Can either be done with this handheld? Any help is appreciated. (P.S. if this set-up is unworkable, is there another device that will perform both of the tasks I'm trying to accomplish?)

Tim et. al.,
The null modem was the solution to the problem. Thanks for the help!!! Now .. if anyone has a library of packet radio scripts for the HP200LX Datcomm program that can be used with the D700A, please email them directly to me (not the list) at bjorkman@voicenet.com.
