Re: TM-D710GA APRS Settings
How is the squelch for channel A set? If it's low enough that it's breaking and therefore considered "busy" by the TNC, it'll never send a beacon.

Yes BCON needs to be on and watch the squelch setting. Too low and you will never transmit. -- William L. Dale, Jr. N2RHV --

I do not see the BCON on the display. Back to the manuals for me, I guess. The GPS is tracking my speed, direction of travel, coordinates, etc. But not beaconing apparently. Lee Besing 210-771-7075 San Antonio TX

Re: TM-D710GA APRS Settings
Thanks for the clue. I scrolled thru the soft keys on the bottom row until I found BCON as a choice to press. Now it appears to be working. Also, I found this helpful YouTube video online about the 710GA APRS settings. https://youtu.be/i_uHaf8CdFQ Lee Besing, N5NTG San Antonio TX

For Sale TM-D700A
Bob Myers
Very nice unit, was mobile inside my Dodge Magnum until I sold(2 years ago) the car, non=smoker, clean radio works well. Used it for primarily the APRS feature $250.00 plus shipping. Will ship in the original box, inside another well padded larger box. Located in Richmond Ky. Look me up if you wish, I am good on all reporting call sign data bases.

Changing From VHF to UHF on the VFO
Milford Craig
I have trouble changing the D700 A side from VHF to UHF. I followed the book and was able to change the VFO to but it went to the 220 MHz band. Now I cannot get it back. Is there something I am missing?

Re: Changing From VHF to UHF on the VFO
agcme2002
Make sure your B side is on UHF when you try to switch. The valid combinations of band versus side is A=VHF/B=UHF, A=VHF/B=VHF, and A=UHF/B=UHF (sometimes written as V/U, V/V, and U/U in the manual and online). You can not set A to UHF when B is VHF.

Problem with AV Map GPS
I have used an AVMap 6 connected to my Kenwood TH-D710 in the car for APRS for years but today the screen of the AVMAP 6 no longer responds to touch, and therefore I cannot after turning it on get to the GPS function of the device.
Anyone else have one of these and have had this issue?
Any Solution?
Anybody else using any GPS Map based system connected to their Kenwood TM-D710 for mobile APRS?
Ideas, help, and other solutions requested!
Thanks,

Jack

Copy PM to PM
JeffH
Hello,
I am a relatively new TM-D710GA owner. I haven't been using the 5 PM slots, but with some of the APRS work I'm looking to do, I think I've hit the point where I need to start using them. Is there a way to copy the settings from the default PM to the other PM slots so I only have to change the one or two settings I'm interested in? Or do I have to manually configure each setting to match up? I have both the standard MCP-6A software and the RT Systems software if that changes the answer. :-) Thanks! -JeffH Jeff Hochberg W4JEW Atlanta, GA jeff@...

GPS for TMD700A

I'm looking for a recommendation of a GPS (no display) that I can use with my Kenwood TMD700A, something similar to but NOT the Radio Shack DigiTraveler GPS of days gone by.
Thoughts?

Re: Copy PM to PM
Randy Allen
Jeff, You simply use your current settings (say PM1 for example), make whatever changes you want, and then save it to whatever PM you wish (say PM5) I have several presets; 1: normal APRS/Voice ops, 2: Voice only
ops, 3: external PC APRS ops, 4: As needed for temporary
operations (such as a Public Service event) APRS/Voice, and 5:
Parked (APRS beacon every 20 minutes, voice (band B) off,
backlight Off, beeps Off). When setting up for a Public Service Event I save my PM1 to PM4, then make changes (voice frequency, APRS comment/status text etc) and then save again to PM4. Hope this helps. 73 Randy KAØAZS On 7/29/2019 22:33, JeffH wrote:

Wife and daughter have customized GPS-18 GPS units for their D-700s. If you don't want to attach your own connectors (my source no longer sells them that way) Byonics sells an adapter for their GPS5 for the Kenwoods. Hope this helps Randy KAØAZS On 7/30/2019 12:38, Keith Kaiser wrote:

Re: GPS for TMD700A
Herb
I use my old Garmin V and even older Garmin III+ units. I would suggest looking for an old used Garmin V on eBay or other sites that you can get for a reasonable price. I see one on there for $35 shipped which I would consider reasonable.

New D10GA questions
Mainly this is to be dedicated to APRS, Packet
As such, I seem to be decoding APRS off 144.390; a List is enlarging ... I also can get on the "B" band on 144.34/94 and make myself known. I can use the RT Systems Programmer for memory. I can touch BCON on the TM-710GA; see the bars indicate I am sending; see my Wattmeter verify that. It is probable I have the default path wide-1 and wide2-1 set .. though there appears to be some duplicity when I find :settings: Anyway, for now, I need to understand why I am decoding so far 34 stations in the APRs settiing but Findu never never reports my fixed position ... I'd disabled iGPS then added Mycall and my known GPS coordinates off my U-Blox GPS... EM88LL is the correct grid. I xmit every few minutes now for a couple hours but never see it reported. Next, I plugged in the two audio cables from Data ... to the Dell front panel Mic and Earphone ... all this did was usurp my system sounds. I run APRSIS32, AGW and UISS ... fwiw. The rig is connected by a USB to serial as seen in the DevMan screenshot ... though ,,,, letting the Port-Setup program for a kenwood D710 "detect, she found com#20 which is what I plugged in for the RT memory program. APRSIS32 :seems: to find my new TM-D710 cuz I see this in the log it makes : -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2019-09-03T14:26:17.055 [TransmitAPRS] KD7YZ-1>APWW10,WIDE2-2:@142616h3829.68N/08301.09W- 2019-09-03T14:26:21.959 [Telemetry] KD7YZ-1>APWW10,WIDE2-2:T#160,100,048,095,128,000,10100000 2019-09-03T14:27:17.055 [TransmitAPRS] KD7YZ-1>APWW10,WIDE2-2:@142716h3829.68N/08301.10W- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ so, please, anyone capable of handling the newbie tirade, please mail me off list and help me get going. I intend to let one of the Alpha-Spid Az/El's track and decode the Digi_sats. Sadly I appear a long was from that ability. -- -- Bob KD7YZ TM-D710GA
