You might want to try a different software like Chirp, http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
or Link700, http://www.wa3hrl.com/link700/index.html One common problem with connecting and some software programs is the limited Com ports the program will let you choose, and the actual Com port the computer assigns when you connect. Be sure they match.

RS232 locked up

Hello
Had the P.S. go bad and send a lot of AC ripple into my D700 I use for a base and an Igate. Radio checks out ok on TX and RX but can not talk to it with a PC. I have tried Kenwoods programming software to check the channel info and the Igate software can not talk to the radio. I have tried different PC's and cables. The only thing I have not tried is Reset, If that does not open the RS232 port I won't be able to reprogram with a PC all by hand. Has anyone seen this and how was it fix Thanks KC0VII

Take a look at this link:

http://sv8ym.blogspot.com/2010/10/lift-withering-spell-off-those-ceramic.html It describes a condition where the D-710 ceramic IF filters degrade because a constant DC is passed to them causing electrolysis to destroy the inner connections. He also provides a fix for the condition. See some of the other links on his page. I understand that Kenwood made changes in more recent D710's to avoid this. 73 Ted

D710 just went deaf
kav246
Hello Group
Cross posted this from the D700 group as it looks like this might be where most of the activity is. Short story long my 710 went just went deaf. Almost nothing (except 59++) opens the squelch even at its most sensitive setting and the average S meter reading I'm getting is 2 bars on signals I know to be 59, lesser signals lighting only the busy light. If I manually open the squelch then strong sigs can be heard but still no meter reading. This is affecting both VHF and UHF sides. As far as I can tell TX is fine. BTW its not an antenna problem (unless I have two busted mobiles and one busted base)and I have done a full master reset on the radio with no change. Any one had this before? Regards Kav

Must fit on one line. You would have to repeat the process to send another message to another email address. This is short and sweet but can accomplish the job if all you want to do is send a short message, like listing a frequency you want the party to come up on. To do more elaborate and longer messages, you will need to use one of the other systems like WinLink but you need to establish and account first via RF..... What are you trying to send the text/e-mail with?

Airmail, APRS, Packet, RMS Express or ???? In theory, the TM-D700A may work with any of those. If trying to send to an e-mail account, it's probably going to have been Airmail or RMS Express or a similar program. Larry J. Ford KG4GPJ

APRS system-test question
kf7vib
So, I got my radio all dialed in and want to send a text to myself and a couple friends through my/our email accounts.
I'm following the instructions but no messages are going through. Any thoughts on the proper syntax would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
