Does anyone know if any of the Garmin vehicle GPSes work with the D700?
I have been searching and it looks like they do not.

Thanks, Ken

There is a power on/off command, but I haven't gotten to trying it yet

2 - The RC-2000 manual says it will work on the D700 and makes no
mention of serial number limits. I should try mine.

Almost but not quite. The RC-D710 control head will not work with the
D700 as a control head. The RC-D710 control head contains the TNC
related electronics so that you can have the APRS functionality on any
radio with a 6 pin mini-DIN connector. However, for true radio
controls, the RC-D710 head will only work with the TM-D710 body or the
TM-V71A body. When used on these bodies, the RC-D710 will give you
full control over the radio. When used on any other radio (including
the TM-D700), you will only get TNC/APRS abilities and nothing else
(frequency readouts, volume control, etc.)

Subject: [TMD700A] RC-2000

Howdy! I am sure this has been asked & answered before, but after
what S/N is the D700A supposed to work with the RC-2000? I have a
friend that has a D700A from an estate and somebody who was supposed
to help him with the equipment stole the control head, so of course
the radio is useless now. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Stolen control head.

1 - The radio powers down about 4-5 seconds after the head is
disconnected. I haven't tried to power it up from the computer.
There is a power on/off command, but I haven't gotten to trying it yet
and am unable to try it now. Perhaps someone else has.

2 - The RC-2000 manual says it will work on the D700 and makes no
mention of serial number limits. I should try mine.

If it works he can at least use the radio as a base with a PC, but
if he wants to get rid off the radio body I'll take it.

I don't think Ham Radio Deluxe will work. I'm not sure how you would
interface the PC to the radio and HRD does not list the radio as a
supported
model.

Also if the radio is set to one of the PMs it will come up the same
every time.

Matt,
There is a reset procedure. I have a Kenwood Application Note AAN
0027 which describes the procedure. I don't know where I got it and
don't see it on the Kenwood site. I'll upload it to the Files Area
right after posting this.

Hi Steve,
Did you see my postings re: TNC failing in the TMD 700?
Well it all started with what you are experiencing now and slowly got to the
point that I had to reset the radio and reinstall all the frequencies
(Link-700) so far all is good.
APRS works, channels all good, memory stays in.
So you might have to do the same as me.
Good Luck
