This hamfest will be a little different than most, no dealers. At most hamfests, there are dealers that show up with new equipment. You can find towers, antennas, radios, coax, connectors, computers, etc. Its like a yard sale for ham radio, and then some. Here is a link to most of the hamfests around our area. http://mcminnarc.com/festcalendar.html Tim Montgomery

FW: Upcoming W4OLB Repeater Change
---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Tom Jenkinson <ctjenk@...> Date: Tue, Jun 16, 2020 at 4:07 PM Subject: FW: Upcoming W4OLB Repeater Change To: Tom Jenkinson <ctjenk@...>
From: Dave Kaun <dhkaun@...>
Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2020 4:00 PM To: Tom Jenkinson WB7TLW <ctjenk@...>; BOB WILSON <bobwilson3810@...> Cc: Kurt Meltzer KC4NX <mre1032@...> Subject: Upcoming W4OLB Repeater Change
Please be aware SMARC will be making a slight change to the repeater in the next week or so. For most of you there will not be any changes in programming as the frequency of the repeater will not change nor will the required 100Hz tone for access.
For some, who make use of the CTCSS (PL) tone squelch, the programming of your radio will be required. The repeater will soon be transmitting a 167.9 Hz CTCSS tone vs. the present 100 Hz. If you don't use this feature then there is nothing you need to do. If however you do use it then you will need to make this change.
So, why is this necessary? Many of you have heard the offending noise on the repeater. it is coming from a distant repeater and this offending signal holds the repeater transmitter in transmit during the end of transmission tail. The W4OLB repeater makes use of the tone to activate the patch to the KK4XA DMR repeater. Also, some use it it control noise at their location, such as myself from my solar system.

tlarc weekly net and log volunteers
Good Day All,
TLARC is currently canvasing for club members to volunteer to take the role of Net Control Station (NCS) on Wednesdays at 1900 hours local. No fear, please find the attached TLARC NCS Preamble. This is a fun and exciting role to initiate familiarity with being a NCS, Communication for regulated operation, emergency operation and other HAM related topics.
Also, volunteers to log for a Net are also needed on a weekly basis. Again, no fear, all who have served as a NCS or logger will help in anyway. There is also an online program to log through, this auto fills the information once a call sign is input.
I would ask that volunteers please respond to me at KK6OKU@... with available dates you could volunteer for and I shall endeavor to complete a calendar to let all know what dates assignments would be for both logging and NCS.
As unforeseen circumstances arise, it is encouraged to ask for swap days from the list of fellow volunteers (once completed) for the benefit of issues that arise and may prevent you from completing a NCS controlled net or log. There is always someone out there to help.
Thank you all for your help and support.

I’m trying to streamline our meeting schedules and Zoom links. Save the link below; it will work every Wednesday from 19:30 to 21:00 for all future Zoom sessions.
Tomorrow night we’ll have another Show and Tell and rag chew. Have something to show? Stage it by your webcam for tomorrow. See everyone tomorrow.
Don’t forget the TLARC Net preceeds to Zoom session; tune in to 442.1 at 19:00.

Re: Swap-Sell List GROWS
Thank you Jim! Good idea. And FB on the TransOceanic SW receiver ... I just LOVE receivers. The old-time glow of the display and the amazing reception in the evening. There are guys who try to hear the most stations on the AM broadcast band during the nighttime when you can hear from Knoxville to Portland. Some guys even narrow their IF amps to be able to discern stations on the same frequency. Awesome sport! 72, George N2APB

Re: Swap-Sell List GROWS
I think that's a fine idea, but I'd suggest using a different Zoom meeting ID and password than what is used for the regular TLARC meetings. Maybe don't even use a password. I'm guessing the objective would be to get maximum exposure, so might as well make it as easy as possible.
By the way, that's a great looking TransOceanic you have up for sale. Those were highly coveted back in the day. Someone will pick up a really fine portable receiver! 73, Jim - K0RGI

Swap-Sell List GROWS
We've had a number of additions to the TLARC Swap-Sell list since we met on
Zoom this past Wednesday. See items 48-thru-54 for a couple of NICE items ... http://www.tlarc.org/swap-sell/index.html I especially wanted to point out a super-nice vintage, 7-band PORTABLE Zenith shortwave receiver (Item 53). Watch the video I made of it in operation! There was some interest in the Homebrew ATU (Item 26) during our online session as well, and I've confirmed that it DOES indeed have a balun inside to allow tuning of a balanced feedline. I added in INSIDE VIEW of this beauty to give more of an idea of the quality homebrew construction of the builder (me!), and show the roller inductor that we talked about. Lastly ... We had a relatively-low turnout for this month's online Swap-Sell meeting. We're thinking that we might open this up to the world-at-large, as there are some terrific deals and the owners would benefit by using the TLARC platform to move these good deals. What do you think? Moral of Story: Let us know if something interests you sooner, rather than later, and you'll stand a better shot of getting that deal! 73, George N2APB TLARC Chief Auctioneer
