Re: GPS Clock Workshop a big success!
Hi Mike,
Total mea culpa on my side. I' had been working on getting interest together for 3 months of meetings and thought everyone who was interested has expressed their interest, and that (plus the meeting minutes) would suffice. Not sure how many people read these messages on the list, or even visit the website, but will ramp that up a bit. We'll have another Workshop soon for others who'd like to make the GPS Clock ... and I'll be sure that you're included! See you next week at the meeting. 73, George N2APB

The TLARC meeting for April is just around the corner. Mark your calendars for Wednesday evening, April 17 at 7:00 at the Tellico Village Chota Recreation Center. This will be preceded by dinner at Thai Bistro (222 Lakeside Plaza) at 5:30. Rumor has it we’ll have music to dine by as well. Please email me If you are interested in having dinner, as I’ll need to provide a final head count in advance to the restaurant. The program announcement will be sent shortly.
If you received a club survey and haven’t sent it back yet, please take a few minutes and get it off your honey-do list. We’re starting to compile the results and want to have you included.
See you on the 17th,
David Andrews, N1ESK, TLARC Secretary

Re: GPS Clock Workshop a big success!
Great news! Glad everyone had a good time. One question....... why wasn't this "workshop" posted on the group website, or here, for those who couldn't attend the last meeting? I am sure more would have attended. As usual, thanks for putting this on. Hopefully, there will be another session for the ones who couldn't attend. 73, Michael J. GPS Clock Workshop a big success!
What a great time we had on Saturday, April 6. Some 14 members gathered at N2APB's home and assembled their GPS Clock Kits in the first-ever TLARC Workshop! Eight of us got the kit built and working without a flaw, while 3 others had some repairable issues, and 3 others had time-crunch issues in completing theirs.
Those getting Gold Stars on their TLARC Certificates for participating in the Workshop include: Dave N1ESK, Emily KB1NXN, Barry K8NWB, Brent K4BNN, David KN4LMM, George WB9TFR, Mike KK6OKU, Juan AC6ZM, Randy WK9M, Sam KV4XY, Gary KN4TRV (who just passed his General exam!), Alan K1AT, David KF4DKW and Jim K0RGI.

Interesting, I always thought that QRP was 5W or less regardless of mode. There is some discussion about this variable on Wikipedia: On 4/7/2019 3:48 AM, Jim Anderson wrote:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QRP_operation#Practice I'm not sure about that date offhand but so far looks good. You may want to send a reminder the day before as well. '73, Randy

Upcoming TLARC Field Nut Event
Jim Anderson <jimk0rgi@...>
Good morning, TLARC! Saturday, April 20 marks the traditional first major QRP field event of the year - QRP To The Field. Rules are available at this link: This year's theme is "Any Ole Park" and the TLARC Field Nuts plan to activate at Lenoir City Park overlooking the Fort Loudoun Dam. No specific times but I would anticipate the afternoon hours being prime for 40 and 20 meter propagation. This event partners with Summits On The Air so there should be a number of SOTA activations that day to provide additional contact opportunities. Not sure about low power operating? Come on out and see what can be done with a full QRP gallon - 5 watts CW or 10 watts SSB. We hope to see you there - it's been a wet spring so let's hope for a nice day on the 20th! 72, Jim - K0RGI

Adventures of the TLARC Fantastic Five in Episode 4: The Great Tower Retrieval
A gracious benefactor in Farragut recently provided TLARC with a wonderful tower, antenna and equipment. Little did we know at the time that it was stored in the crawl space of his old home ... and we needed to retrieve it!
Visit our Activities web page <http://www.tlarc.org/Activities/Tower+Ant%20Retrieval%20(2019-03-24)/index.html> to see the exploits of the TLARC Fantastic Five as they plot and work to extract the precious hardware from the dark and dank recesses of Farragut for ultimate club use! 73, George N2APB www.tlarc.org

Re: Radio Stations Around the World
How clever! Get a list of all internet-streaming radio broadcast stations, add geo-location for each, and then overlay with interactive map (as done with Google Maps), and pump the “selected” streaming content to the computer’s sound card. Brilliant! Thanks for the link, Oh Voice of the Village! George N2APB
