TLARC Field Day 2021

Whew, a full nites rest! I’m so refreshed and still full!

Trailer is still not empty, the boxes and totes aren’t unpacked but it’s all a labor of love! We shall endure!

What a good time for all but especially for me. Seeing everyone come together, socialize, make contacts, eat and experience the field day rush, did I mention *eat*!!!!, watching and helping those who dared to get their license wet and jump rite into a contest for the first time, makes me proud to be a part of the TLARC Team! A big kudos to you all! Did I mention “eat”!!!.

John KO4MIY-first HF contact ever via field day
Robin KO4PNC-GOTA station slayer! 10 contacts
Kurt KV4EWI-GOTA Station Master! 20 contacts

I can not thank all those enough that made it work like a well oiled machine. I would be proud to work any event or emergency with any and all of you.
Also those that came, worked, supported, made contacts, grounds maintenance, food prep, kitchen cleaning, building maintenance, vacuuming, dusting, (well we all participated in the eating which I must say we lived up to our middle name (food), it was all and I mean ALL culinary delights! ) and clean up, even down to our own internal emergency when we ran the generator out of fuel. Only a loss of 14 minutes for power as members were on it like blue bonnet, resourcing, applying and backing up supply to assure no failures of the same would rear its head again. A true field experience. As it should be.

Again, I can not thank you all enough, I also can not name everyone because there were over 30 members and their xyl’s that made field day so successful for TLARC.

A special “thank you” to the following though:
Mary Anne- owner Gods Cozy Acres for the use of the facility
The TLARC Field Day Committee Dream Team
David -KF4DKW -for his preweeks dedication to the facility maintenance, cleaning, repair and safety.

Looking forward to next years Field Day!

Again….Thanks to all for your participation and contribution for a successful TLARC HAM Event!

Field Day 2021

Jeff Buffington N4POD

Greetings TLARC family!

First of all, I want to say thank you to EVERYONE who participated in TLARC's 2021 ARRL Field Day!

While I have participated in many a Field Day over my amateur radio "career," this was by far the best group of folks I ever could have been blessed to work with.  I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for the faith, support, encouragement, and participation!

This was the first time I have ever had a leadership role in such an event. I know I made many mistakes, but I hope to capitalize upon and learn from those.  If I am ever honored with such a position again, I promise to build upon the things that I have learned, and shall seek to improve our group operations even more.

The sheer number of folks that were able and willing to come out to our little "out of the way" event was simply amazing.  The hard work and dedication of several members was simply astonishing.  I would list names and callsigns, but there are so many that contributed, I fear I'd forget someone.

I think we did an amazing job, and I'm proud of everything we accomplished.  I am working on gathering the tallies and calculating our scores.  Once I've gotten everything submitted, I will report back to the group (both via email and on the net.)

If anyone has any suggestions on how I can improve upon things, I am more than willing to listen.  Feel free to contact me on the radio, by email, or by phone.  My contact information is listed at the bottom of this email.

Finally, for those of you who were unable to attend, you were sorely missed!  We hope to see you at the next operating event, but we certainly understand the circumstances have been difficult for many over the past year or so.

If you did participate in Field Day under the ARRL Field Day 2021 Temporary Rule Waiver, and wish to credit the club with your contacts, please make sure you select the TELLICO LAKE ARC as the club.  This is what we will be filing our collective results under.

This was an absolute delight!  Again, I am humbled by the great group of folks we have in the club.  I would love to see us participate in even more operating events, contests, and the like in the near future.  I look forward to seeing how much further we can increase our capabilities.  I look forward to Winter Field Day.  I look forward to other contests (let's make an effort to participate in more events as a group!)  Most of all, I'm looking forward to TLARC's ARRL 2022 Field Day!

Thank you all!

73 and God Bless!

Re: 147.540 Crossband Repeater For Field Day

michael J. foley

SWEET!!!!

147.540 Crossband Repeater For Field Day

David Weikert

TLARC,

A crossband repeater was set up at Field Day Central (God's Cozy Acres) today.

As you get close, you can call in on 147.540. This is the transmit and receive frequency. To keep it simple, there is no tone.

The cross-band repeater is tied back to the TLARC repeater in Tellico Village and testing went well today.

You can use 147.540 during your Field Day visit to keep in touch with everyone just like you do on the main club repeater.

In reference to the directions to Field Day, Google Maps and other services might not send you to the exact location of:
2315 Big Sandy Road
Philadelphia , TN

Use this location and it will bring you the the gate where the TLARC lead in signs are:
35°41'21.9"N 84°31'12.1"W

Hope to see you tomorrow. 73!

Re: INVITATION AND REMINDER // TLARC JUNE 2021 GENERAL MEETING -- SATURDAY 26 JUN 21

Chuck Ferguson - N4CSF

All,

This is your final REMINDER for the TLARC Field Day and General Meeting festivities at God's Cozy Acres tomorrow and Sunday.  The event address is 2315 Big Sandy Road, Philadelphia, TN 37846.  Please see the schedule specifics below for times.  The weather forecast seems to be holding pretty favorably, but it's gonna be a little warm.  Dress appropriately and suggest you bring lawn chairs, in case bottoms exceed available seating.  Expect an exciting time with fellow members and guests, lots of good food, and plenty of multi-band and multi-mode on-air contacts.  Please don't forget to wear your TLARC T-shirts and name tags, if you have them, to promote the Club.  We may be visited by various local and ham radio community dignitaries, so look sharp!  Can't wait to see you there in person and hope you have a wonderful time!

Also, please find attached the draft minutes from our 19 May 21 TLARC General Meeting for review.  Please comment to me as needed before or during tomorrow's meeting.  Thank you for everything you do in support of TLARC and amateur radio in the Tellico Lake Region, and see you tomorrow!!

TLARC Members and Guests,

Hello, everyone!  This is our invitation for you and your guests to attend our June face-to-face (F2F) meeting next Saturday afternoon at God's Cozy Acres.  We changed our normal monthly meeting schedule to coincide with TLARC's Field Day (FD) activities 26-27 Jun 21.  The specifics are as follows:

Date/Time:  Saturday, 26 Jun 21.  FD Setup - 8:00am EDT to 12:00 noon; Lunch - Immediately following FD setup; Meeting - 1:00pm EDT, before FD operations begin.  All available members are encouraged to be on deck to help with setup activities.

Location:  God's Cozy Acres, 2315 Big Sandy Rd, Philadelphia, TN  37846

Invitees:  TLARC members, partners/spouses, and guests

Attire:  All attendees are encouraged to wear their TLARC t-shirts, name tags, and comfortable work clothes.  COVID facemasks are OPTIONAL.

FD operations will commence at 2:00pm EDT, following our general business session.  Our hope is many TLARC members can remain onsite after the meeting to participate in and observe TLARC's FD station operations.  As discussed in previous meetings, we plan to operate voice, CW, and digital modes on the HF and possibly VHF/UHF bands.  Please take this valuable opportunity to learn more about and work modes/bands new to you.  There will be lots to learn that can enhance your Ham knowledge and experience as well as improve your emergency communications capabilities.

I intend to forward the draft minutes from our 19 May 21 monthly meeting for your review early next week.

Please join us for what will be a fun, informative, and productive Saturday.  Thanks again for all you do, and we look forward to seeing you on the 26th!
