Call for Secretary Nomination
Juan Lopez
Dear TLARC Members,
To date, I have not received any nominations for the 2019 TLAC Secretary positions for the upcoming special election. Anyone that is considering the position should self nominate themself today. Do not wait to see if someone else steps up. TLARC requires a
full staff to run efficiently. Please consider serving your club his year.
Best Regards,

Greetings and Happy New Year 2019. This is a reminder that we have a TLARC meeting coming up on January 16 at 7:00 at the Tellico Village Recreation Center. This will be preceded by a dinner at the Thai Bistro at 5:30. If you are interested in having dinner and have not already done so, I would appreciate an email so I can give the restaurant an accurate headcount for dinner.
The program for the evening hasn't been finalized yet, but as soon as it is, we will get another note out letting you know what the subject for the evening is.
Hope to see everybody at the meeting.

North American QSO Party this weekend ... join in with the KN4DUA team!
Hey all,
The North American CW QSO Party (NAQP/CW) is happening this coming weekend, and we have a real fun and unique opportunity to participate... It allows for club operation by multiple stations operating separately from different locations! This means that we'll have one station going at Juan's AC6ZM home station, another going from George's N2APB home station, and perhaps at the same time by other club members. All we have to is register "who will be where" in advance. Here's the full poop ... http://www.ncjweb.com/NAQP-Rules.pdf. But in summary ... - CW only – send as slow or fast as you like…Great for 1st-time contest operators! - 1 pm ET Saturday to 1 am ET Sunday - Single ops can work up to 10 of the 12 hours - Exchange: Name and State (e.g. GEO TN) - NO RST – do not send RST !!! - 100 W maximum output power, or 5 W for QRP - Bands: 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters only - QSOs: Work the same station on multiple bands. Ask stations to QSY to other bands (this is fun…try to work ‘em on 6 bands!) We think we're going to have George's station in operation at the start, at 1:00 on Saturday afternoon. Maybe even some QRP Field Ops up on the Ft. Loudon Dam Overlook ... TLARC Field Ops again!! Then we'll have Juan's station open in the evening on into the wee hour (1am). So, let us know if you have any interest at all in helping support TLARC put KN4DUA on the map yet again. You can cheer us on, you can take a turn at the CW paddles (or straight key), or you operate from your own home ... It couldn't be easier! 73, George N2APB www.tlarc.org

At the traffic light on Hwy 444, turn into the business area of Tellico Village. Classico is located behind the gas station. Phone 865-657-6300.

New Ham in Tellico Village
Dear TLARC'ers,
There's a new ham in town. His name is Tony Walker (KN4PNS) and he received his Technicians license in October. Tony took a course in Knoxville and studied via the computer. He lives in the Toqua neighborhood of Tellico Village and is interested in meeting the group, attending meetings, and finding out more about ARES. I am bestowing my many years of hamness upon him. One of the best things is he is a member of the C.O.P. helping protect our county. Say hello to Tony if you hear him on-the-air. OJK

Field Day 2019
Hello TLARC members,
Something that should be brought up in the next meeting is Field Day 2019! It's never too early to start planning for field day, where we can set up, what needs to be brought and, of course, FOOD!!! Last years Field Day was a success. Let's all work together to make the next one even better! -- 73, Michael J. Foley, K4MJF Tellico Lake Amateur Radio Club 470 ARG
