Re: Scam Alert

GE, Ben.

This site appears to be for use when there's a victim of a scam, not just an attempt.

From the faq:

Q: Who should file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)?

You may file a complaint with the IC3 if you believe you have been the victim of an Internet crime or if you want to file on behalf of another person you believe has been such a victim.

Spam attempts such as this need to be submitted to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center  (IC3).  The more reports they get, the better chance they have of catching the culprits.

Each instance should be submitted separately.  If you do not report, you are supporting the criminals.

Subject: [TLARC] Scam Alert

Hello, TLARC.

I received an email this afternoon from someone identifying themselves as Juan Lopez, requesting that I purchase $500 worth of Amazon gift cards as a donation to "Veterans at Hospice & Palliative Care" and he'd reimburse me by check. I'm pretty sure that he's been hacked, so beware.
