Hello all!
What is the reason, why in post-1997 time, RhB never introduced through
services to Arosa? E.g. Landquart - Arosa, etc...?

regards & thank you

RhB loco allocations

daigog218

Hi all,

Is it still possible to obtain a list showing the allocations of RhB locos in service on the day (Lokdienst)? I believe this used to be possible from either the ticket office or the station café/bar at Filisur - is it still available there or anywhere else?

Many thanks

Dave

Even though the published timetables on fahrplanfelder show trains running to Scuol-Tarasp again from 8th Sept, it appears that the engineering work is actually on until 5th Oct.

➢ SBB timetable pages show a bus service from Susch as it is as present.
Mucks up my planned trip to Austria in 3 weeks time.

Summer closures last longer

Apart from the Unterengadin line of RhB which will remain closed for one more month, also SOB encountered problems with tunnel engineering work:

The reopening of the St. Gallen - Herisau line had to be postponed after parts of the tunnel arch collapsed during works on it. Closure is now
06.07.2019 01:40 through 26.08.2019 04:00.

Obviously not easy to repair tunnels...

Already in June RhB informed that the closure of the Unterengadin will last longer than planned. During the works in Magnacun tunnel the constructing firms encountered important problems which made a reopening in Septmeber impossible. RhB told me that it wasn't easy to find buses AND drivers for the additional month. Online timetables and homepages have been updated.

That url doesn't work for me, but https://www.historic-ostschweiz.ch/fahrten/ does work. Perhaps they changed it.

All ICE1 in international services will eventually be replaced by ICE4. The change must be done at once because seat arrangements are completely different. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to correctly reserve seats.

All ICE1 sets will be rearranged and continue as shorter consists on less heavily trafficked lines. More details slightly off-topic in this forum. :-)

To reach a point to sleep where they feel at home. ;-)

One consist does Berlin - Interlaken Ost - Basel (371/336/338).
The next ICE arriving in Interlaken Ost at 21:57 (373) is stored there and goes off at 06:00 to Berlin (372).
The next one in the morining does Basel - Interlaken Ost - Berlin (333/278)

Basel Bad has some maintenance facilities for ICE.

Re: Vectrons for SBB International

csipromo

I am trying to figure out some information...

SBB Cargo International leases 18 Vectrons from LokRoll. Are these loks identical, or are there some with a slightly different package?
SBB IN also leases a number of Vectrons from ELL (Austria). Some of those loks have two pantographs and are homologated for D/AT and others have four pantographs and are homologated for more countries (D/A/CH/I/NL).

SBB IN leased 20 further Vectrons from Suedleasing. Will these loks be identical to the LokRoll machines or will they have slight differences.

The four Vectrons leased by Hupac that were intended to be operated by SBB IN were rejected by SBB IN. Does anybody have any particulars as to why they were rejected? What, if any, differences are there between these loks and the LokRoll/ELL loks? The only information that I obtained was that operation of these loks would require additional operator training. I know that the pantographs were not the same as the LokRoll equipment, but don't know what the other differences may have been (cab design, control equipment, etc).

Any additional information is appreciated.

On a related question, what SBB tractive stock is homologated for use in Belgium? Does SBB IN operate to Antwerp, Ghent or Zeebrugge or do they rely on partners?

Mike C

Re: BAM (MBC) coaches sold to Africa

Thomas

B 63 was sold to travys in 2015 and bought back to be sold to SNCFG, as travys had no use for it anymore.

The plan is to use them together with ex-zentralbahn B 305/310-312/314/316, which were imported by Bolloré Logistics in 2014 and ceded to SNCFG in 2018, for a planned commuter service between Conakry and Dubreka (45 km) on the meter gauge Friguia industrial line (145 km).

Regards, Thomas.

BAM B 61 to B 64 have all been sold to Africa (Conakry)

They were built by FFA/SIG in 1964 and were 26 to 29 until 1981/82

63 had been on loan to Yverdon Ste Croix and was not returned to BAM before being taken away:

All good points Gordon, so thank you for you observations based on (as you commented earlier) far more local experience than me.
No doubt time will refine the service.

Ge 4/4 II might disappear earlier than usual for RhB locomotives. Reason is their electrical gear with thyristors. Unlike other RhB motive power, these locomotives don't have regenerative brakes, only rheostatic brakes. This results in an energy consumption that is 40% higher than with other locomotives.

On 14.05.2019 628 hit a rockslide near Tavanasa-Breil/Brigels in the Surselva area. After inspection at Landquart repair was costed at over 1 Million franks and take around 18 months. As a result the loco has been withdrawn and will be scrapped after reusable parts have been removed.

Coach A 1231 has also been withdrawn, AB 1569 will be repaired
