OK latest on my research on oils that match the viscosity etc of SB rec oils, Types A, B, C and way oil. First the good news/bad news, I found via a local Shell Oil products dist Vitrea oil, type 22 m

Paul, SB is acutally reasonable on the wicks for the shaft and tailstock. Cost was $3 per foot and a foot is a lot of wick, like would last you a lifetime. Its a round felt solid rope about 3/16 dia.

I totally dismantled my 9" SB and took it to a local engine rebuild shop to have it cleaned. The use a Caustic Dip tank which is pre heated to about 110 F. All the parts where put in the tank and left
