I would also keep your eyes open for a Logan . Their a
very stout lathe , still supported by the original family . I
have South Bend 9A but I still kick my self for turning down a
Logan 820 for
$ 200.00 a year back . I stole my 9a , but deals are
still out there you just have to be on the look all the time .
Find the info on checking the SB headstock spindle
clearances/adjustment &
if you do find a SB that test/ inspection would be a
good place to start when you actually go to look for one .

Hi everyone, thanks for letting me join.I don't own a South Bend but I'm going to be stepping up from my 6" craftsman(Atlas)in the hopefully, somewhat near future & the South Bends definitely interest me but I'm not familiar with them so I joined here hoping to get some input & knowledge on what to look for & lookout for when I start seriously looking into buying.
