Grizzly SB Heavy Ten
Out of curiosity, how does the Grizzly heavy 10 compare with let's say the single lever gear box version from 1942. It now has the CAM Lock and still has power cross feed. SB1007 - Heavy 10, 10" x 30"

The biggest downside of the Harmonic Drive is that the hole through the center isn't that large. It's currently mounted in four 3D printed pieces to represent what the final mount will look like. Hope

So far I haven't had to run my SB Heavy 10L in reverse so I've not run into the problem. But having said that I have this nice Harmonic Drive that will become the A axis on my CNC mill conversion. It

Ah. So if you just loosened the nut you're still left with the chuck stuck onto the taper. If the hook is flipped up behind the nut then the nut can't move towards the headstock so it pushes the chuck

Thanks for the link Steve. I've seen those drawings before. But I don't understand why the photos show that hook that pivots. If the L00 just has a nut that is turned onto the threaded part of the chu

Could I perhaps ask a really dumb question. I've got a South Bend Heavy 10L lathe. Spindle is threaded for the chucks and faceplate. What's an L00 and why convert? Thanks John

Reverse operation with 10k screw spindle
As we discovered when I developed my Electronic Lead Screw, the load on the spindle motor when threading is minimal, which is why we can get away with one pulse per revolution. Especially an AC line c

Since I have a Heavy 10L with taper attachment apparently the need to mount a parting tool upside down behind the lathe with the spindle turning in reverse isn't required. Although I must say, parting

Hi Bill, I used to move one ELS around to lift the knee on the mill and then back to the lathe. In that case the mill had a GECKO drive on the 1200 oz-in motor so I was really just moving a parallel p

I went and checked my Heavy 10L and it's got the same problem jumping from 18TPI to 20TPI. However although I never bothered adding the cross slide motor since I have a taper attachment my ELS has all

I've always wanted one of those. My only MG was a '64 MGB with non-synchro into first and no back-up lights. Eventually plywood floorboards as the rust took out the originals. John Dammeyer
