How one thing leads to another (Supposed to be funny)
I feel better knowing that I am not the only one that has the ability to turn mole hills into mountains. :-)

Fitting a new 4 Jaw Chuck
Youcan make a spacer similar to this one. It is nothing more than a piece of 2” X3/8” flat bar. Place the spacer on the spindle. Install the back plate so thatyou can do whatever work that needs to be

South Bend 9A - Selector Level hard to move - Apron freshly Cleaned and Oiled
If your half nuts lever is engaged you won't be able to use the selector lever. Likewise you won’t be able to engage the half nuts if the selector lever is engaged. I had that issue when I reassembled

Slot Milling on the 9A. How much is to much.
I actually made one pass @ .075", but I had to cut the feed rate in half. The motor went from a happy hum to a "this is hard work" sound. I didn't get any noticable chatter, but the finish wasn't near

Murphy's Law
I decided to replace the leather belt with an automotive serpentine belt. I had the broken belt in hand when I walked through the door. I quoted Mr. Murphy the length in which I measured before I left

The irony to this story is that the last name of the fellow that assisted me at the parts counter is "Murphy". At thirty something he not exactly a young man, and for that reason I avoided the "spring

Murphy’s laws always seem to come into effect at the most inopportunetimes. Then I met Murphy at the parts store. I told him what length belt Ineeded (49”), and he comes back with a belt 61” long. By

ER 40 chuck for 9 inch SB wide bed
It will work but you loose the ability to stick long work pieces through the headstock bore. At the time I wanted/needed a collet chuck I didn't have the tooling to make my own so I bought one. It fit
