Todd, I don't think we are talking about the same USS Kidd. This one DD-661 is a WWII Fletcher class Destroyer. Decommissioned in 1964. It Towed from Philadelphia, PA to Baton Rouge, LA in May of 1982

gear question
That 40t gear can be used to cut quite a few metric approximations that are well within tolerance of normal thread usage. You need a few extra change gears though. They are pretty easy to find on eBay

There are several ways to cut a close 1.5 mm thread approximation. All of these methods will work, but you will need a few additional change gears. Since you have a 37/47 transposing gear we'll start

Mick; Thanks for the tip on associated tractor. I'll keep them in mind. I think I'm going to use all new parts. Most of the needed bearing are not that expensive. I can get the Hydraulic pump rebuild

Thanks Nelson. My son is more of a computer geek, but doesn't mind getting his hands dirty. He is always willing to give me a hand whenever I ask.

I'm happy with the six jaw chuck. If I need a 3 jaw chuck I can drop three jaws out, and I'm good to go.

Two small projects.
Nice work Jim. I have a similar project where I will need to make a unique bolt coming up on my Massey Ferguson rebuild/restoration. I'll try to remember to document, and make a post about it. Waiting
