Agreed Jim. I took a few measurements on the tail stock base and I can't see were there is enough wear to justify a .020 shim unless the base and/or tail stock are not original to this lathe.

Don’t worry Ken I realize you are pointing out that amandrel isn’t the end-all be-all of fine precision accuracy. Trust me, if I wereto build a rifle capable of such fine hair splitting accuracy I wou

Don't fret it Nelson. Your not alone. My twenty year old daughter will send me text messages on my phone so full of abbreviations I can't read it.

Sure Bob. When I get home tonight I'll see if I can through something together that will help. You using the original motor or a replacement?

Bob; I have attached a pdf describing how my motor is wired to the switch. My motor is not the original motor. The previous owner replaced it. I hope this helps. Phillip

Thanks Bob. It is original except the motor. It does have some wear on the ways, and I had to shim up the tail stock. It is missing some key pieces for the taper attachment. I'll get around to finding

No problem. I had most of it drawn up in a CAD program is I wouldn't have to go through all the frustration again if I ever had to do it again.

Do we have a parts list for the SB 9 taper attachment. I seem to remember seeing one somewhere in the past, but for the life of me I can't find it now

Adjustable micrometer way stop
Awesome! I like this one, and it seems simple enough. I could really use a good stop, but before I tackle another project I want to make a few upgrades to my lathe. I'm in the market for a good chuck,
