I saw the grin, but hadn't looked at the pictures. ;) And forgot to attach the photo of the MT4 taper &adapter. So here goes on the photo. And no. That doesn't look like a factory attachment to me in

My adapter for the Heavy 10L is 1-5/8" OD at the big end. It's .940" ID, with a wall thickness of 0.350" An MT 4 taper is 1.195" OD at that point on the taper. That gives you a wall thickness of 0.255

Might want to add an MT4 while you're at it. Just in case. It will be a while before I need one, but the Smithy CB-1220XL 3-in-1 machine my brother decided I needed has an MT4 spindle, MT3 tailstock,

That would probably be it. Centers are a lot cheaper than the sleeve would be, and they tended to regrind them to true the center back in the days before CNC machines when they needed the extra accura

Carbide Use?
Mine too, back when they were the only tools I could find. I did discover that alox grinding wheels would work, but SiC (silicon carbide) or "green wheels" are supposed to work better. Bill in OKC Wil

The new Heavy 10 really isn't. And there are several vendors selling 10x22 lathes about the same size for half or less than Grizzly wants for their machine with the name on it. Including Grizzly, IIRC

That does not include the wooden top or shelf. Those are an additional $273 each. Plus shipping. Lots of shipping. $179 for the set of legs alone. Bill in OKC <----- can't help being a downer sometime

If you have a card file, and keep your files clean, it's not so much a problem, if you have only a few files. If you have a bunch of files, it's a great idea to have different files for different mate

Might not be your best choice, since THE best files are Grobet, and they're foreign-made. Swiss, IIRC. In the USA, Nicholson is good. Found this: https://usamadeproducts.biz/tools-hand-tools-hand-file

White vinegar would neutralize the baking soda, and form salt. I wouldn't go there. Washing soda is also an alkali, and it with water will convert grease & oil to soluble soaps. After you get that off
