POTD - table saw pulley
I have an old craftsman table saw and someone put an aftermarket pulley on it. This caused problems with motor pulley alignment. To align the motor the woodruff key would only be slightly in the pulle

Use FreeBSD. It won't approach infinity and it's just like old machinery - you get to put together your own tooling. Daniel

OT - CAD program for Linux
librecad is what I have. Everytime I go to use any cad program I realize it's just faster to sketch it and call it a day. The only reason I would consider it might me a plasma-cam or similar. That too

I am having life of brian flashbacks. Something about each and every one of you is an individual with your own thoughts and ideas! That and the "romans go home" are my favorite scenes. Can't think of

OT weather reports on Sandy
I'm in DC. Lights flickered a bit. There were some heavy gusts of wind and some rain but the shop stayed dry. A few folks at work in more rural areas lost power but most of them have it back again. On

Not a lathe but: Nice South Bend Shaper near SF, CA
The prices are pretty high nowadays and as mentioned the larger machines are the same price and sometimes cheaper because not many folks have the room and they are HEAVY. Kind of like lathes :) Daniel

An MG-TD project. Machining some special Stainless Steel BSF T-Nuts.
Wow. The newer cars don't have the number stamped on the block - it's just on an aluminium tag. It's also pretty hard to verify the body belongs to the VIN tag (held in by two screws). There is suppos

Lathe on submarine [2 Attachments]
It's not a south bend lathe but the USS Ling or Pampanito have their lathes sitting aft in tiny little hallways. I remember as a kid being shocked how little space there was on one of these subs.

Motor wiring question
Somewhere around here there is a how to on this. I used it when wiring my drum switch. Basically there is a start circuit and a run circuit. The run circuit never swaps neutral/hot. The start circuit

QCTP tool holder storage methods
In addition to dovetails you could use a piece of 1/4" plywood with a narrower piece behind it and a screw or nail through the whole thing. If you don't have a way to cut the dovetails that would work
