The tumbler shaft should rotate freely. You probably have a bad spot in your tumbler idler gear(or dirt/chip in a tooth or two) Ted

Reverse the spindle by hand until the gears free up. Then check for damage. I have some new gears for the gearbox if you need them. Ted
