Just my personal opinion, but I don’t consider FB either secure or safe. It’s basically spy wear IMHO.

Remove the set screw under the support, seen on the left of your first photo.  Then, use a piece of round stock and a hammer and drive the shaft out of the support.

you should make a mark in order to re assemble things together the same way.

It is simple.

When I did mine, I replaced the levelling screws (located at the front and back of the levelling foot) with allen screws.

I need to disassemble the tailstock support for my 10k to clean & repaint, and I'm not certain how to safely take it apart.

It can be adjusted to level the bed by tilting the top mount plate which hinges on a turned shaft that I *think* is pressed in.  I'm assuming it is a slightly tapered shaft, but I'm having a hard time verifying that because both the ends of the shaft and the edges of the holes it goes in are chamfered.

Does anyone know how these go together? (and come apart?)

Thanks!
Rogan

I'm always looking for stuff and have stuff I want to move along.
Fleabay is cool, but the shipping, fees and now collected sales tax is making stuff expensive

My guess based on the shape, it was inside the taper of the quill, shortening the length of the taper.  So that when the tailstock quill fully retracts the tool inserted in the quill will release.

I know pieces went on the floor, and I found some. A corner of the clamping pad was broken off, and a mystery piece was found on the floor. It doesn't appear in any of the parts lists or videos I've looked at.
Basically it's brass or bronze, about 5/8" diameter, about the same length, and a small shallow dimple in one end. There was a small piece of curved felt nearby.
Anyone know where it came from?

Thanks,<SB13_TS_mysteryLR.jpg>

FWIW, I know there is still another piece of something hiding in the shed, I heard it ping away under the bench, but everything appears to be present and working, so I will go over it with a fine tooth comb, but this piece has me confused.

I agree with Animal on the zip or postal code for both seller and buyer. Some things I wouldn't want to pay for shipping from the UK, for example, like an 8' lathe bed...

Though I'd sure like to have one! ;)

George, and all,

I think a “Market place” would be useful and helpful to both buyers and sellers.  What would be very valuable is a section revealing what “it” sold for.  Not only would this feature keep prices in the real world, but perhaps more would sell if they had some idea of what their surplus was worth.

Perhaps a mention of the country where the kit is situated would be helpful.
