I forgot to write this a few days ago!  PayPal has an option to classify a recipient of a payment as "Friends and Family", which eliminates the transaction fee. I agree with you and wish the option to notify members of database changes was available. That option is available for new file uploads, but not database changes. I'll suggest adding that to the support team at Groups.io.  In the meantime, it's either check the database on occasion, use a web page monitoring utility to watch for changes in the MARKETPLACE web page, or a group member can just post "I just added something in the MARKETPLACE."

Rogan,
The pivot shaft on my 10K does not have the center drill holes in the end like yours. Anyone else have a shaft with the center drill holes in the ends?  Maybe yours is a replacement that was put in with a touch heavier fit. Or, maybe mine is a replacement. Or, maybe SBL just made the shafts differently at different times.

Thanks Guy,

I pulled that set screw out entirely, to be sure it wasn't interfering, and gave it some whacks with a deadblow on a brass drift, to no avail.  I also set it in my large drill press (a sizable camel-back style, with a screw driven table), and put quite a bit of force on it that way (probably around 3 tons, or so, but that's just a guess), and it hasn't shifted at all.

I'll soak it with penetrating oil tomorrow, and try persuading it with again with a bigger hammer, but I'm also open to suggestions.

Thanks!

It is simple.

Re: How do you dismantle the tailstock support on a 1 0k?

Thanks!

Remove the set screw under the support, seen on the left of your first photo.  Then, use a piece of round stock and a hammer and drive the shaft out of the support.

you should make a mark in order to re assemble things together the same way.

It is simple.

When I did mine, I replaced the levelling screws (located at the front and back of the levelling foot) with allen screws.

Group,

I've added "MARKETPLACE" to the group's database section.  Group members can add as many rows as they want and can only edit the rows that they have added.  I put in 2 test rows for starters.  I allowed for up to 3 images of whatever it is that you're selling or looking for.  WTS stands for Want To Sell.  WTB stands for Want To Buy.  The current thinking is that the MARKETPLACE is intended for machines, parts of machines, and tooling and is open to non-SBL items.  Having said that , the MARKETPLACE is not for lawnmowers, cars, trucks, car parts, etc., etc....  I'd say it's for things you'd likely be using in a machine shop.  Contact info should be an email address or a phone number.  Location can be a zipcode or city/state.

I'd like to see items that have sold remain on the list with the WTS changed to SOLD and the price adjusted to whatever the item finally sold for.  That way we can have some kind of price history develop over time.  To get to the MARKETPLACE, go to Groups.io and log in.  Once you're in the South Bend Lathe group, click Databases on the left side of the page, and then click on MARKETPLACE once you're in the databases section.  I think I designed the database well enough to cover what it's intended to do, but let me know if you think something is missing.  Once you're in the MARKETPLACE database, click on the green "+Add Row" button to list your item.  REMEMBER TO CLICK THE "UPDATE" BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM TO SAVE WHAT YOU HAVE ENTERED OR CHANGED ON YOUR LISTING!
