Need a 3mt to 3c adapter
I recently converted my 9A to a turret lathe (bed turret, lever top slide, and lever collet closer) for a 500 part order. Finally got my 3c collets today and they almost disappeared in the spindle

Hi Dimita,
The 14 is the same size as the 13. I picked one up on ebay. You have to wait for one to come up.
Good luck,
Charlie

Re: jarno taper in SB headstock ?
I tried fitting a center into my SB 14-1/2 lathe spindle. A MT4 was way too small, wouldn't seat at all. A MT5 was way too large wouldn't even start to go in.
I looked at the files section. It

Re: Heavy 10 Collet Draw Bar Need
I made a new one for my lathe some years ago. It isn't that tricky to make. The threads of my draw bar were shot when I bought my lathe. I used a piece of Chrome-Moly tubing. I'm not sure where I

Re: ER Collet chuck
I was just confirming for my model, since you added the "(I think)" to
that comment.
Confirmed, the model 34 has a 1" bore :-)

Hi Alex
I just bought the same lathe and brought it home 2 weeks ago on a utility trailer. The lathe will weight approximately 1750 lbs.
Unfortunately the design of the bed is a bit different then

Re: South Bend FOURTEEN
In the files section (Again!) is the write up “How to disassemble a South Bend Lathe for moving”.
It’s fairly through.
Also, these lathes are VERY top heavy. Not a month passes that we do

Yes, as I mentioned, the small bore spindles, on the 10 and 13” lathes do not use the SB proprietary taper.

I moved a 16" using the biggest UHaul trailer. Each end of the lathe was jacked up and a homemade
dolly placed underneath. The dollies were constructed from heavy duty casters from tractor supply,

I looked into this vortex cooling concept for an application on a train. The refrigeration efficiency compared with a vapour compression cycle is dreadful, so it is not a viable scheme for "base

If there's a forklift available, some 4" wide cargo straps (like used to hold heavy loads onto semi-trailers, not Home Depot ones) looped around the bed webs should handle it, or use some web straps
