I agree but these aredesigned to be altered.
You have already foundthe ones at tools4cheap.
There are some largercollets that do require a backing plate.
You do have to becareful.

I am just a beginner, but I read a lot. If you are in north California. There is an expert in Portland Or, He has redone about a 100 lathes. I have visited his shop and I bet he would help you

Welcome to the group.
The big question from me … does the saddle actually fit the ways on the new bed? Usually they have to be hand fitted.
Also if the bed is worn the saddle is worn

As I noted I have onein my 9”Workshop.
The normal 9” Workshopspindle is 49/64 bore through.
The 10K is 55/64through hole.

It's a long time ago. Dad was a metalwork teacher at the local technical secondary school in Grimsby in the 1960s. Can't be certain how old I was, but probably about 8 when he acquired a flat bed

I have a 10K spindlein my 9” Workshop headstock.
I do use 6K/3C/3ATcollets.
I do not have a speedcloser. I do have 3 handwheel closers.
The 3C and the 3AThave essentially the same threads
