Re: New to me SB 10 Heavy, need help with identification
I'm a hobbyist. Now you know one who regularly turns between centers.
My mill spindle pulley is tapered on the inside. I wanted a different pulley with only two steps and room for an encoder

Most of the hobbyist I know don't turn between centers , it's always a 3 jaw & live center . When I mention dogs & faceplates most folks I know say that stuff is for wood lathes . (

They do very different things. Morse taper accessories, for example, including centers, are best finished with a tool post grinder, where a surface grinder is best for things like 1-2-3 blocks, gibs

I have a tool post grinder an Atlas , which I have never used as of yet . I could see a surface grinder coming in handy a lot more than the tool post grinder . But I could just be pounding

I knew I wasn't going to be able to afford one for my hobby shop, but was interested in how badly I couldn't afford it. Found a place that lists the SuperJet-S kit for oxy-acetylene deposition for

yea , I could see where this would be a $$ generator . When you watch the tubes your thinking wow this is pretty simple , which I'm sure its not as easy as the tubes make it look .

"oxy/acetylene spray welding"? That's a new one on me. But sounds intriguing.

Re: New to me SB 10 Heavy, need help with identification
Mike is likely correct here as I have cleaned up a lot of stained collets with great success. I use 3M Scotch Brite radial bristle wheels in a bench grinder. You can get them up to 400

I have an an old electric motor mounted on a board with a a wire wheel dedicated for light rust removal. It's a little more labor, but I hate dealing with that black gunk left over after

How about oxy/acetylene spray welding for the pitting? I picked up a kit at a university surplus auction but haven’t had a chance to try it out. I did find a tool salesman who has used them for

Easy-off is a heck of a lot cheaper, and available in your local grocery store. Though electrolysis will remove any rust and paint, and a box of washing soda costs about what 1 can of oven cleaner
