Re: Another Project: 1942 9” Model A with Risers
I’m finally finished cleaning all of the tooling that came with this lathe, and I’ve now moved on to the lathe itself. I have a feeling it’s going to be a long process as my parts cleaner

Snap Guages
Does anybody use snap gauges in their home shop? I’m rearranging some of my toolbox’s drawers and I’m thinking of getting rid of these. I don’t think I’ve ever had a reason to use them

Thanks Davis! That sounded familiar, so I checked the documentation that came with the lathe and found exactly what you referenced. I appreciate the help!

42 Tooth Change Gear?
Does anyone know what a 42 tooth change gear would be used for on a 9” lathe? I don’t see that tooth count on either the 9B/C change gear chart or in the chart for metric threading. I have one

Re: Removing a stuck brass compound nut
Well, the good news is that I got it out, I know why it was stuck, and I didn't break anything in the process!
The bad news is that I need a new nut.
I decided to try pulling it free with a screw --

Re: Removing a stuck brass compound nut
You need to separate the top slide from the compound . Loosen the gib screws & then slide it off & your in business . Carefully file the buy , you don't want to make the hole larger ,

New nuts are available for not to much $ on Ebay but they are made from 360 brass not bronze which I believe the originals are. I ordered one of the cross slide nuts that I used in a machining table
