Re: Machining the MLA Faceplate
Eddie, the compound was set at 90 degrees to the axis because I hadn’t thought of rotating it to make it more rigid before you mentioned it. I really appreciate it and will remember that from here

Re: size of location hole in cross slide
Add me to the list.
I found solid tires in the size that fit.
As you said, stiff, but permanent.

Thanks John!
I am not progressing well in the shop cleaning department. Can't find any of my air chucks, either. Need to air up the tires on the hand truck...
I know he's been looking for this info

Re: size of location hole in cross slide
I removed the two clamping set screws and lifted off the compound. My 1942 Heavy 10L has a hole in the cross slide that is 1.618" diameter measured with digital calipers.
So not 1.5 for sure and

Re: MLA-23 QCTP Boring Bar Tool Holder
Thanks all!
I finished up the boring bar this morning. It’s a piece of 7/16” 4140 that I was going to use to remake the cross slide screw for an 11” Logan that I sold before I got around to it.

Re: size of location hole in cross slide
I don't know, because I can't find the top slide or the parts it mounts to at the moment, but I have a vintage 1941 Heavy 10L here in pieces for a slow-going restoration. I shredded my workshop again

size of location hole in cross slide
Hello,
Having seen a South Bend milling slide for a "Heavy Ten" advertised, I wonder if anyone knows if the location hole for the top slide would be the same diameter as that of my SB model "R"

Re: Lathe pricing
It doesn’t make a big difference but do you mean 6K Collett‘s, not 3C?
40 years ago I paid $600 for my cabinet model 10K with only a few collets, and a three jaw. Everything is obscenely
