Which spindle do you have? The drawbar for a L00 spindle needs to be longer than for the standard spindle. If you have the L00, measure what you have and I can compare it to mine.

For my 16 inch I put a leather belt on it but I wasn't very happy with it. I ended up buying one from Grizzly as an OEM replacement and I have to say it is a very nice belt - it is a glued composite.

After several belt experiences, I finally reach Nirvana with a multi-ply belt with a Clipper fastener and connector pin. Took one minute to install. Silent, no ticking. And, I can disconnect it

Yes, the same for my Dalton 7” lathe. Pulled the bearing caps and lifted the spindle enuf to slip the serpentine belt in. You can run them either ribbed side down or up. One is supposed to be

For my 9C I took a deep breath...
Then I removed the spindle and installed a serpentine belt without cutting it. The bearings were probably due for an inspection, anyway. (LOL) Everything looked good

When I rebuilt VW engines, the test for adjustment of the belt on the generator was to tighten it until a thumb

I used a serpentine belt. Laced together with mig wire. That was 10 years ago and it still works. When I jam the parting tool in the work it squeals horribly. I think a couple of the mig wire
