Re: Dropped my Tailstock - mystery piece came out
My guess based on the shape, it was inside the taper of the quill, shortening the length of the taper. So that when the tailstock quill fully retracts the tool inserted in the quill will release.

Feel like an idiot, was moving the tailstock of a SB13B holding it by the rear handle and the barrel/chuck when the chuck taper suddenly released and it all hit the floor.
I know pieces went on the

I agree with Animal on the zip or postal code for both seller and buyer. Some things I wouldn't want to pay for shipping from the UK, for example, like an 8' lathe bed...
Though I'd sure like to have

Re: For Sale and Wanted items
George, and all,
I think a “Market place” would be useful and helpful to both buyers and sellers. What would be very valuable is a section revealing what “it” sold for. Not only would this

Yes, a good idea.
Perhaps a mention of the country where the kit is situated would be helpful.

Re: For Sale and Wanted items
Now more so than ever I'll say yes also, and while I'm at it, if theres anyway to avoid using PayPal for payment would be great too, especially since theyve gone mad with what they now charge in fees.

For Sale and Wanted items
Group,
What do you all think about having a spot to post For Sale or Wanted ads for group members? I think I can set that up within the group if there's any interest.
Thanks,
George H. Meinschein,

Re: 1964 10K headstock cover question
I may have that cover, I will head to my storage this morning and take a couple pics. I also have the long fibreglass cover, both of these are no longer needed by me as I bought a under drive cabinet

Re: 1964 10K headstock cover question
Alrighty then, I finally found an image of what I need!
Thanks to everyone for their input, and keep me in mind if you run across one.
My project will be a real honey of a lathe once I get her all

Re: 1964 10K headstock cover question
From what I understand so far, the 'glass guards are from around 1976 and forward, with one guy saying his 1974 machine still had an aluminum one.
This would make sense with OSHA going nuts about open

Re: 1964 10K headstock cover question
I found one image of one with what appears to be a shorter cover on an older machine.
I talked to the guy I got it off of and he said he removed it but doesn't remember why.
Bob said it was cast
