Mike, thanks for arranging that deal on oil. My order was promptly delivered and the price is quite reasonable for my needs. Wonder what’s going on with Blue Chip...

Well I tried to contact him a few months ago by email and on the phone. The phone was constantly busy and he never answered my emails and I asked the same question as you on a couple of different forums. . Fortunately I didn't buy from him.
I searched for a source elsewhere and found these folks up in Largo, Fl. A way better deal than blue chip. If you sent a check I would cancel it or whatever because that guy is not around.

These folks didn't have the 4 oils that were needed as a lot of 4 so I contacted them and they put this together and told them I would spread the word. Here is the link to where I got the oil,  https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Pints-26-DTE-24-DTE-10-Velocite-2-Vactra-Oils-Mobil/124232863428?hash=item1cecdb0ec4:g:ySYAAOSwFMtfx~F2

Blue chip wants $49 with shipping and the tool guys is $35 for the same amount.  I don't think you'll find a better deal.

This version of the file contains areas that are the “final” revision of how it will look

and how the links work, info and other tweaks, please help and report broken links to cards, photos and notes.

The gray with light green sections are the last changes, and the newer updates will look like this.

The 100 build lot numbers are in gray, the owner lathes are in light green with the serial number in light yellow.

I still have hundreds of serial number emails going back to 2007 that have overwhelmed me in the past, but

I am working every morning for at least 3 hours to add the older data. All serial numbers are still welcome.

It takes hours to research a single email sometimes when the model is rare and I need to go through the old SBL card files,

and look for catalog data. The link to the cards, photos and notes are an amazing resource tool for model ID and information.

All the Best,

Steve

In the files section of this group is an interactive spread sheet which will provide the ship date and other information on most SB lathes.
“South Bend Chronology-update-2014-14.xls.

Please note there is many years of information in the files folder
Please take the time to browse them.

Hi all,

Thought I'd share some pic's of my 3 month on and off refurb of my 9A. Tore it down to every last nut and bolt. Put in new felts & wicks. Polished all the parts that I could. I had a new Dayton 1/2 hp motor sitting around for a long time that I put on. Tore the cabinet apart and painted it and installed a new top. It's quiet and smooth and runs great! I'm happy with the way it turned out. Looking forward to making some things. Also Thanks to those who answered a few questions along the way.

South Bend 9C + Knurling

G K

Hey Guys,

Newbie here.

Recently acquired an 80 year old SB9C.  In a lot of parts, awaiting a rebuild with new felts and oil.  One item I received with the lathe was a knurling tool and numerous pairs of wheels.  However, I cannot figure out how to remove and chance the wheels as thee are no visible posts or screws in the tool.  Homecraft No. 0-KH, also says Williams & Company on the other side.  The head rotates, the wheels rotate, but I cannot see an obvious way to unassembled the tool.

Any help would be appreciated.
