To get measurements of worn nut threads for making a custom fit screw, you could fill the nut with RTV silicone. Not the one part caulking stuff, the kind that has a separate catalyst to mix in.

Some companies have trial sizes of their silicone. Or you could use the same stuff crime labs do and get some Mikrosil. Shop around and that can be found at a decent price.
