Good top on open office.  A lot of folks are using Libreoffice (also free, offshoot of openoffice) now.  http://www.libreoffice.org/
It is the standard for a lot of Unix distributions. It can read most if not all of the Micro$oft formats e.g. word, excel, powerpoint, and I have heard visio.
