I think it might be less trouble to make it of three parts, the two main pieces, and a retainer ring to snap into one of the others.

Put a groove in the outer surface of the inner mating part and another groove in the inner surface of the outer mating part.

A preformed spring wire retainer ring could have enough gap to close down when the parts are pushed together, then open back to its normal diameter once the parts are assembled.

You might need a ring compresser, like a very small piston ring compressor, to start the assembly.
